Bella Mattina is a perfect place for a fall getaway! My husband and I wanted a quick dose of nature and fall colors over the Columbus Day long weekend and found this great little place only 2 1/2 hours from Baltimore (or D.C.). We loved the location, which is close to state parks and a nature preserve for long walks/hikes, yet also close to the town of Berkeley Springs for restaurants and light shopping (antiques, arts and crafts, etc.). It is also very close to the Western Maryland Bike Trail and the C & O Trail (about a 10-15 minute car ride away in Hancock, MD). The property is private and beautiful, with gardens, trees and a view of the mountains. The home is very, very clean and is decorated like an upscale cabin with beautiful arts & crafts style furniture and colorful works of art. We spent some time enjoying the common room fireplace, reading on the comfy sofas. There is an awesome wrap around porch, adding to the living space. The wall to wall windows on the first floor seem to bring the outdoors in, and make the most of the beautiful outdoor scenery. The owners, Ann and Leo, are great hosts and make guests feel so comfortable and welcome. The breakfast is very good, made with mostly local and organic ingredients. There is a friendly dog and 2 cuddly cats on the property.

This is our fourth stay at Bella Matina and it gets better every time! We have been here when it's warm and sunny, and during cold rain, but the beauty of the home, the mountain views, the warm stone fireplaces, and the amazing owners make it an oasis no matter the weather! We love coming during the Berkeley Springs Apple Butter Festival, but the local town is fantastic on it's own. Great local restaurants, charming shops, spas, and park land, all make this a wonderful and relaxing get away. Leo and Ann create a unique and fun bed and breakfast atmosphere. Oh, and the breakfasts are great too. We'll be back!

Bella Mattina B & B is everything one could wish for in a relaxing getaway! The house is architecturally unique built with gorgeous rich wood and an abundance of windows surrounding the house. The windows were all open bringing in a nice mountain breeze contrasting with the hot humid weather. There are many sitting options from the beautiful back porch overlooking a garden with a fountain and a backdrop of the beautiful mountain. There is a screened in porch, a living room area and many outdoor sitting areas as well. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. We so enjoyed getting to know our wonderful host Ann who made us an amazing breakfast each morning. Bella Mattina is a perfect respite vacation destination! Can't wait to return!

We had an absolutely fabulous stay at this charming and welcoming bed and breakfast! Bella Matina was a little slice of heaven tucked in an oasis of beauty.
Twinkling lights adorned the porch and arbor of this delightful bed and breakfast when we arrived at dusk. Our east facing bedroom balcony became our own little perch, as we watched a full moon rise and a rainbow arch across the sky. The lovely owners, Leo and Ann, were incredibly attentive and a delight to share time with. Leo is a wonderful cook, preparing one scrumptious breakfast after another. Our favorite breakfast included his savory quiche.
If you're looking for a restorative and tranquil setting to settle into, look no further than Bella Matina! For those looking to commune with nature, this is a perfect spot and close to hiking (Cacapon Resort State Park), biking (C & O Canal) and canoeing (The Trough).

Beautiful setting and your hosts are delightful! My boyfriend and I spent the night there and had such a peaceful time falling asleep to the sounds of the outdoors while cozily tucked away inside. Leo is an awesome host and has lots of cool stories to share about his travels around the world :)

Bella Mattina has a most beautiful view across pastures and forest. The rooms are spacious and beds are very comfortable. There are several patios and decks. The owners, Ann and Leo are most courteous. WiFi and 4G service is available eventhough Bella Mattina is secluded. It has all the amenities of a great BnB but no TV which suits me just fine.

BEAUtiful location and house outside of Berkeley Springs. Wife and I stayed one night in the Primo room. A/C would have been nice, but it’s like a portable unit made permanent, and it was too loud. And the ~12 Japanese Beetles (I think) we killed in the room were unnerving. Bed was comfortable but the covers seemed more for a twin bed than a queen. Breakfast was simple and good. We had little interaction with the hosts. A stay in cooler weather would be very nice.

This is the most beautiful Bed and Breakfast my husband and I have stayed at. There are multiple quiet areas to sit outside and listen to nature. We stayed in the Secondo room- the bed was so comfortable and it included a jacuzzi tub. The Mr. and Mrs. that own the B&B were so sweet and welcoming. The breakfast the next morning was delicious. And there were two sweet Labs to hang out with during our stay :) (me being a Veterinary Technician- this was the icing on top of a perfect experience) We will certainly be back!💕
