This is a hidden out of the way place with good food and prices. The views were great. Friendly staff and no crowd definitely made it a great place to get away from the crowds of tourists.

We were pretty tired after checking into the B&B and went to Sandtraps for an early dinner. We chose a table by the window as we were attracted by the beautiful view as you can see from the pics uploaded. Friendly staff knowing it's our first time visiting Banff and told us what is the best time to be out for sightseeing and of course great food.

Held my great-uncles celebration of life here, the staff were so welcoming and understanding They cleaned up after our giant gathering with no complaints. The food was delicious and service wasn’t too long. Thank you Sandtraps, especially for helping us cherish family.

Most likely, many of the issues we experienced was due to the fact we arrived the hour before they closed. We understood our position as “those kinds of customers”, but we had a great first impression thanks to the homey atmosphere of the restaurant and the kindness of the server. She was even honest about the tomato soup not being as good as it should be. However, after ordering the experience went south.

Our server would serve other tables without looking at us even though we were trying to get her attention to order quickly 30 minutes before closing. We waited for about 5 minutes to order, but then we were told 5 minutes later that a special two of my friends were sharing wasn’t available. However, the server unfortunately assumed that my two friends would still share their new order, and we were upset for our friend because the server either ignored her or was tunnel visioning on closing duties. The food arrived around 5 minutes after they closed, and we asked for the bill and to pay to help speed the process of us leaving. However, before one of my friends could pay, the server disappeared and probably left, so we had to ask someone else to let my friend pay.

That was the service experience, but some of the food items my friends ordered were good such as the tortellini. However, my french onion soup (pictured) just wasn’t to my liking and my friend’s chicken burger was dry sadly. I don’t think I’ll come back during another visit to Canmore, but if I do, I hope I’ll be proven that coming in during the last hour was the cause behind our experience.

A hidden gem. Dining inside can be VERY noisy when loud people are talking. Outside in the summer is one of Canmore's best kept secrets.

To the female who was working during lunch on Tuesday November 1st, she needs to get a new job or some D! She either hates her pathetic life as a pathetic server? Or just a bad person in general 🤦🏽‍♂️ did she sleep with someone to get this job? The sandtraps restaurant should hire more professional and friendly staff.

Had a Christmas Party there yesterday and it was the best pork roast I've ever had. Scotty and Pam took a great care of us. The only minus was suuuuper icy parking.
