The food is good and a reasonable price. The service was excellent and fast.
They have some First Nation Special food. Also, the Chiniki Cultural Centre is located inside the building where I learned about this culture.

If you miss this marvellous stop on the #1 Hwy in the foothills of the Rockies your trip will not be complete! The Smitty’s restaurant is one of the best and the atmosphere is very peaceful. The native displays are well worth the time to study.

Definitely a must see, and dine, destination.

Four months later and my wife and I are heading to the Kananaskis for the day. HAVE to stop at Chief Chiniki's for breakfast. "The song remains the same". Excellent atmosphere, friendly service, and great food. Don't pass this by on your trip.

Spectacular view and amazing interior.. it's like a museum with history. All about the local native people.

The staff are usually locals that are learning the trade and a few veterans to train em.

One of the only places for locals to find employment.

The food is expensive to me of course. Spent 24 bucks for 2 eggs bacon hashbrowns and coffee incl a 5 buck tip.

It's not for every day.

Nice ambiance, wonderful service, good location for a simple meal, right off the highway. Their bannock and jam was delicious! Yummy oatmeal, I ordered 2! Breakfast plates were basic. Nothing extraordinary. I’d go back for the peaceful ambiance, oatmeal and bannock

What a gorgeous building. I love aesthetics, and eating here was an experiance. The music was so calm and soothing, and you can see the mountains and hills from the windows. The food was excellent, hot and fresh, good coffee, and worth it being a little on the expensive side.
Part resteraunt and gas station, and part a indigenous heritage building, I would for sure come back here.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The building is stunning. The vibe is so peaceful with aboriginal music playing in the background. The food is excellent, cooked the way you like it. The service is very good, our server Erin was so polite and professional. I definitely recommend this place if you are going to Banff or Canmore. Will be back for sure.

P.S. They have INDIAN TACOS and BANNOCK BURGERS!!!! Plus they have a little exhibit you can browse through

Loved the location of this place. They had dine in open as well as a wonderful patio over looking the highway & mountain. This restaurant is visible from the highway itself very difficult to miss it. The restaurant has a lot of seating, super lit, very neatly maintained, the restrooms are clean and ample parking. The staffs are very very very friendly. We had breakfast here and the bread was freshly made in-house. Food was delicious. The staff who attended to us was very sweet. She was right around the corner if we need anything. The price was also not too expensive. 35$ for 2 seems like a pretty great deal for a patio breakfast. Definitely will be coming back here whenever i visit banff.
