A bit far from Red Deer but worth the drive. If you like museums and places like Heritage Park, then you will enjoy this place. Our kids (4-11) mostly just liked the train ride which was $4 ea so easy on the wallet :)

The staff are great. The times that we have been they have gone out of their way to welcome us. My boys (4&2) love it here. Bill started building the railway and station for his wife and it just blossomed. Sure the place isn't as polished as a provincial museum but this is the labour of one man and some good ol' prairie neighborly help.

Bring a picnic, take a train ride, sit in the corner with a dunce cap in an old schoolhouse, look inside an old grain elevator, and climb aboard a caboose and other train cars. Talk with Bill or Doreen, they are very friendly and have much to tell.

Many people are in and out quickly but we make a day of it when we go. Take your time, explore, and enjoy your day.

Taught my nephews that a kaboose is the "train's butt". Their parents didn't think it was as funny as I did.

It was an amazing experience to be there and enjoy an actual train ride
with so many friends. The locomotives , Diesel, steam were breathtaking. A MUST see for all ages! This whole experience should take app. most of the day, if you are planning a day “off”, from the bid city. I would advise to book ahead and avoid disappointments. You’ll be glad you did.

George.

We love coming here every year! Good eats and cool treats with a train ride to boot. Lots of fun exhibits and things to do. You can easily spend a day here and the costs are very affordable.

A smaller museum collection than the Alberta Railway Museum, but a much better train ride experience.

Not impressed. Arrived here at 12:30pm on Saturday September 17, 2022 after driving down from north of edmonton with my daughter to visit this railroad museum for the first time. Both Google and their website showed they were open today 12:00-4:00pm. Upon arrival they were closed. Called the number and the guy who answered said they have been closed since the long weekend. Maybe update your website if your closed for the season so people don't waste almost half a tank of fuel especially with the gas prices. Don't think I will ever attempt coming here again after this experience or recommend anyone to come here.
