This museum is really good, considering it’s location in a small town. There are lots of galleries and exhibitions to see here. The Whyte family, Banff history, paintings and some contemporary art made by local artists. For a $10 fee, I think it’s worth it. The gallery have been well kept and most of the artifacts, paintings and rare items are nicely preserved. This is a good additional activity in Banff if you’re not into Skiing or hiking. We went on Saturday noon and it was just me and my partner the whole time.

The perfect place for an hour or more exploring Banffs past showings it's development as a mountain resort town. A highlight when I visited was the short film about making a traditional birch bark canoe. The collection of historic buildings in the grounds really add to the place (though not always open to the public you can still walk around them).
The tranquil museum makes a nice contrast to the retail focus of the town centre.

Great museum and gallery with amazing historical photographs archive. I’d love more focus on First Nations though, it is all very much from the viewpoint of European explorers.

A great place to learn the early history of Banff and immerse yourself in some nice artworks if the weather outside is not ideal. We spent about an hour here.

What a great old museum worth stopping in and having a look and you can check on their website to see what kind of expeditions they're running

Small but informative museum. Provides a bunch of interesting backstory to the founding of the national park and the town of Banff

At 10 per person free for military. It was a eye opening experience. Amazing works of art and great historical artifacts. A must see in Banff..

I'd recommend this museum over the Banff Park Museum if you're looking for general history and art. But you should visit both - they're within very close walking distance of each other.
