Mater Academy Charter Middle/High School

This is the best school in Miami. Academically they excel in every aspect. The students truly learn and get a well prepared education for their future in College or University. I have a very good relationship with administrative staff, teachers and employees. They are always open to listen to any concerns from parents or students. They have high technologically based resources for every student and parent. I’m so proud my son goes here and will graduate with a dual enrollment. They have a dedicated person to help with scholarships and future education. I truly recommend this school above any other.

The school is doing well even with virtual classes. teachers are actually teaching and pushing students to do their best. it is not just given busy work. Mater Academy makes sure all students have the opportunity to learn and push them to accomplish even college diplomas

I wasn’t going to leave a review but the amount of my old teachers I see in these reviews let’s me know that the school is asking the teachers to give them 5 stars. Seriously, almost every 5 star review is from a name I recognize. I graduated in 2013, so I’m sure things have changed. The school is too strict and pushes students into depression with the amount of homework they give. At times it’s not even the teacher’s fault, the really good ones would be honest with us and told us that the administration asked them to give multiple at home assignments and they’d get in serious trouble if they didn’t. You are also pushed into AP courses even though they know you have no chance of actually passing the exam, the school gets money for every AP student so it makes sense. I have 6 AP classes my senior year. The best part about Mater is that once you get out, everything else becomes easier lmao

So, I started this school virtually. Now I'm in 7th grade, almost finishing the year. The amount of pressure they put on students is STUPENDOUS, and the teachers assign so much homework, it makes you want to cry. This is exactly why I have so many Z's in my grades. Its because they assign so many things to do, that there's no way in hell you'll get it all done without being sleep deprived in the morning. Another issue is fights. They haven't been as bad as older reviews say, but they still happen sometimes. Another thing, teachers don't seem to care about your personal well being. Older reviews mention drug problems, but I don't recall there being any recently. All in all, parents, I definitely do NOT recommend you bring your children here, unless you want them to be miserable for the rest of their academic days.

The teachers show their care for their students. My kids enjoy being here. I've seen their improvement since I moved them here. School staff very friendly and organized even with the large amount of students they have. Communication is a plus, the teachers keep parents informed about their kids performance all the time.

Hello I’m student from mater academy, charter, middle high school and this school is my home forever and the teachers are so and funny and the administrators are so cool sometimes and help a lot around the school like a lot a lot and the education the school gives is the best go lions and mater green💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

Great school! Definitely doesn’t overwork students with AP classes for personal gain! Administration cares so so sooo much about its students! Dress code is not overly strict at all! And this school definitely takes action when kids literally k!ll themselves every year under their care! Awesome school 10/10 😁

The administration for registration and the front office are horrible. They treat all the students and parents disrespectfully. They should maybe take a class on how to treat people better before they start dealing with the public especially with minors. Specifically the lady who works in registration is very rude. No wonder kids don’t want to go to school.
