Independence Middle School

I go to IMS middle, it is a great school with a great campus, not many fights, teachers at times can be unreasonable, and one teacher Mrs. Kerr is rude and disrespectful but besides that the school is great!!!!!

I go to ims it's very cool butt they don't really try to make friends butt it's still cool

the teachers and adminstration dont care about u and the campous is full of bad influenced people i hate the school my self

It was a good school, better than most schools in the area. Mostly good teachers and the food was okay too.

My daughter has gone to this school since 6th grade. She has taken all honors classes and is active in Chorus, DUKE TIP program as well as many after school clubs. She enjoyed her time immensely. We will miss the school very much as this is her last year. As a parent, seeing all the opportunities the children are involved with regarding academics, volunteering, educational field trips and academic based clubs...you cannot beat what they have to offer here. They also have a wonderful before and after care that is free to students. For us working parents,that is so extremely beneficial. Teachers love the kids here-its so obvious. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the school. If you want your child to excel and start preparing for college-this is the school for you.

Most teachers are great but some are plain rude and could care less about students, they sit back give their students busy work everyday and then kids are expect to pass test in these classes. Teachers are there to teach not to play on their computer all day and pick their favorite students. But overall school is good kids are nice, administrators are helpful, and most of the academy are cool.

The Principal's daughter is favored over all other students. She was named Student of the Year despite there being many other deserving students. Devon Koerner the Principal's daughter is able to get away with anything whilst other students are reprimanded for no reason at times. There is a lot of favoritism and the irony is that the teachers and staff are all in this.
The Guidance counsellor's are pathetic and incompetent. The biggest clown in this circus is Mr. Sheffield who never attempts to resolve a dispute/complain. All he does is wander around doing nothing meaningful.He is very good at passing the buck and favors Black students over the other students.
