3*hotel with small private yard for about a dozen cars (there are free public car parking places not far) , reception closes at 18, but it is possible to check in later informing them before and they will leave keys in a safe and give you the relative codes. Continental breakfast is enough good and staff is friendly, wifi has repeaters on all floors and connection is good. The hotel is in an old building which has been renovated, keeping an old look. The lift brings from the yard until the last floor, but it is on the half floors, so always you need to climb or descend a ramp of stairs.

It is the worse hotel I had seen for the last 20 years or so! Cheap room. Complete absence of any administrator and no help / emergency line whatsoever! The whole building is shaking once heavy transport is passing by. I was told to deposit key in the box by administrator door once I exiting hotel but nobody to bother to give me it back or put it in the safe-box, nobody bother to think what will happen to me after 18.00 once administrator has gone home. Just horrible experience overall!

Reasonable price for the services you get. Clean but small room. A bathroom patched with numerous glue-on solutions. Breakfest generous. However, you might find mixed-in in one of the dishes something you have seen at the breakfest offer yesterday.

It's a cheap hotel, a 20 minute walk from the city centre. Usefully the street it is situated on runs straight into the town and so it's on every map, so you'll never struggle to find your way back.
That's the good bit. Now for the bad. The walls are stupidly thin so rooms echo sound rather than dampen. The room I was in (two single beds pushed together not a double) had a street light directly outside so it was light all night as the blind on the window was almost pointless! As stated it's a decent walk to the city and no real pubs or places to eat on the way. There is a decent place called Delicafe about 200m away off on a side street but you wouldn't find it if you didn't know it was there, and come 11pm it's rammed with boy racers.
Breakfast isn't served until 8 so anyone on an early flight misses it.
As hotels go it's doable if you don't expect much. I can't recommend it though as I know most have a higher requirement level than I do

DETAILED REVIEW

Hotels in Latvia are expensive
This one cost 400€ for 4 nights. So for the price is not bad.

The built is really old so don't expect something mordern. There are total of 6 floors but a small elevator goes only till the 5th floor. Every room is not the same and have many differences.
The reception service is not 24/7 only from 10-18 and doors are locked after 18.00 and you need a door code to enter hotel.

Rooms are decent but need maintenance or renovation. The televisions are old box style. The flooring makes lots of noise when walking in different places. The doors don't have a card key to unlock. But instead a traditional key system.

The toilets are decent but small and dim lights. There is only toilet paper to handle your toilet business.

There is no ventilation system like airconditions. You can open windows and request a fan if you want.

The breakfast is good
Breakfast includes
-cereals
-breads
-sausage
-sandwich stuff
-egg
-poridge

The hotel is really silent at night and you can sometimes hear your neighbours.

Clean and tidy at a good price. OK on a main road so can be noisy if your like me have late to early early hours drinks. And quite away from old town and taxi drivers rip you off so be aware of that. Breakfast abit strange but mayby more local type I don't know. Overall I had a please t stay just depends what your looking for.

Giving five stars may be a bit of bonus because of this particular stay (we really had very pleasant stay), but to be fair, this is a three star hotel and all those three stars are well deserved. Location is perfect if you do not wish to stay in old town and are happy with using public transport; just a couple of minutes to walk, you will find busses and other means of transport to reach city centre.
Hotel has amenities for breakfast - bar next door is open for guests of the hotel only from for 8am to 10am (good variety of dishes to choose from - omelette, sausages, different salads, cereals etc.) Feels a bit like home made food. If you choose to stay at Avitar hotel, it may be worth to include breakfast when booking the hotel - adds good value for money to both - hotel and breakfast.

Nice rooms, very good service! We arrived quite late and I was worring if we get the keys, but hotel service had already done everything that we can get the room even if late. Also, there were sweet gifts in our rooms! Everything was neat, nice and clean. I wish all the good for your business! ♥️
