Spotted Cod - Wavell Heights

Well...... not sure what has changed here in the last few months, maybe management, owners or lack of money? We used to get take aways here often whenever me and hubby wanted fish n chips... this was our go to. Today, after a few months having not visited, we decided we felt like a greasy treat. We ordered our usual. A fish n chips pack for $12 roughly. We were surprised when we opened the packet. The fish was so small it was pathetic! It used to be big enough for two people, well now you'll be lucky if it feeds one person, not to mention its dry and under seasoned. We asked for chicken salt.... there was literally like a 'pinch' of chicken salt over the whole entire pack.... I actually had to inspect it closely to find it as It tasted like they had forgotten to season it entirely. The chips are boring, no flavour... maybe due to the lack of seasoning. The whole pack was ready for the trash as soon as a few chips and the fish was eaten.... it was the only thing salvageable with some tomatoe sauce. The photo taken was right before we threw it all in the trash. Let's just say we made other eating arrangements. Sad.

Got the Seafood Frenzy which has 2 whitings, 2 prawns, 2 mussels, 2 scallops, 6 calamri and 2 servings of chips all for $24.
Initially tried ordering online but the order was not accepted so went to the shop.
The seafood was very tasty, definitely great value for money. Crumbed mussel was a new thing for me and I was very impressed. Will definitely go again!

I got a prawn cocktail and a fish pack for me and my two young kids. The prawns were fresh and tasty, and a bargain for $9. The kids loved them. The crumbed fish was really tasty, with a huge serve of chips. We ate it in the park around the corner, a great afternoon.

While we waited for food, we chatted with the owners outside, and they were very friendly. It was quick, and great value. I will be certainly back again.

Tried them out with a simple order of fish, chips and calamari. I was really happy with the quality of the food and the price seemed good ($15). Good sized portion too. Only problems were the order came unsalted and it took a bit longer than I wanted to wait because it was busy. Small problems though.

Very busy Sat night and we waited a long time. However while waiting I noticed a junior staff member with much dark curly hair protruding from his baseball cap, he should have worn a hair net to restrain all that hair while cooking food for the public. Luckily his hair was not in our order or I would definitely have returned it!! Our chips were tasty but not hot, and had too much salt, cod was tasty but not really hot or cheap either. Uber drivers were served much faster than we were, maybe that is the way to go.

Just fed the family a meal from Spotted Cod - calamari, fish and chips etc. Friendly, professional service and good quality food.

Calamari over cooked, greasy potato scallop.
Fish and chips was okay.
