Girlfriend driving through town and a dog ran across the interstate. She pulled over to get it out of the road and to safety. Got the dog in her car but unfortunately its collar did not have any identifying info on it.
Called Fayetteville PD to help but was told the animal care and control office was out for the holiday. I was told under no circumstances could they or any other officer assist because of the holiday. I explicitly asked “so is her only option to let the dog run free and hope it doesn’t get hit and killed or cause an accident” and the dispatcher just said “again, we can’t help you until tomorrow.” The answer was yes - they were willing to expose the dog and drivers on the interstate to risk of death because they don’t have anyone to help.

Great example of why trust in police is eroding.
