Brooke County Animal Shelter

The shelter staff are really nice and kind people. We found our girl Segunda, known then as Miss Sadie, in January. They had taken good care of this eight year old dog for over a year. It is a great testament to the staff and county they gave an older girl a chance like that, we are grateful they did so she could come into our lives. Think of coming by the shelter before you buy a dog, there are plently here who need a chance, you'll be glad you did.

The shelter is VERY clean and the staff are very kind and caring. I came and adopted my sweet babygirl 12-23-17 and she is the BEST dog i couldve asked for!! I will ALWAYS recommend this shelter to anyone!! I highly advise if your looking for a furry friend to come check out their animals.

We adopted a 5-6 year old beagle-jack russel mix (?) from the shelter a couple of years ago. Staff members were friendly. Facility was clean. Adoption process was easy. Staff seemed to really care about the dogs and screened appropriately. They kept him for us for a few days after adoption was approved since we were out of state and had to drive several hours to pick him up. Adoption fee was very reasonable...only $50 because we chose an older dog. Our little man is fantastic and brings so much joy to our family. He is a hilarious, cuddly, fiesty little fireball...just like a terrier should be! He was surrendered by his previous owners and needed some training because of some behavioral problems, but he is doing great now and I wouldn't change a thing. He has been a perfect fit for us.

Very, very clean facility. Jaysin and the rest of staff extremely nice. Very helpful! You can tell they really care for their animals. Never have I seen an animal shelter and animals so clean and well taken care of. We stopped so my 19 year old son could adopt a puppy. They were so patient and time giving.Jaysin was extremely good at what she does at the shelter. Hoping to get our application approved and to soon give a forever home to Morgan, a coon hound. Beautiful, happy, well cared for. Looked at several facilities and am most comfortable with this one. Thank you Brooke County Animal Shelter for what you do. 4-29-17 Definitely will tell all we know to come see you for healthy, happy pet adoptions.

My husband and I have never adopted from a shelter before and decided to give a dog a forever home. We stopped by and right from the start we met a beautiful furbaby that came right to us and I had a feeling he would be a perfect family additiion to our home and a friend to our furbaby that we already have. We even asked if we could bring our furbaby to meet him to see how she would react and were told yes they do that. No one told us we had to fill out any papers whatsoever so we were not told about the pre adoption. My husband and I came home and we were so excited we talked about him all night. The next day we called to plan a meet between our furbaby and the one we picked only to be told that someone came in after us and took our dog right out from under us because this person filled out pre adoption papers we were not told about. We were devastated and we still had them both meet, which went good. I have never been so hurt in my life. The people who run this place made the mistake and should have told the second people just that and fixed their mistake. Instead we are left heartbroken. If I had a child in my home and had to explain this do these people even understand what this would have done? For me to have to break a hopeful heart? This was an awful exoerience that I would never wish on another. I will never reccomend this place for adopting a pet and they should not be allowed to because their best interests are not for the pets or the family who has love to give.

We donate food to this shelter, they take care of the animals so well. They need all the help they can get to help the animals out. Please donate food, treats, money, anything to help the shelter out. The people here are really nice, and you can tell the animals are cared for and loved, and the shelter is so clean every time I come in to bring food. I live in Ohio, but with what the people do here for the animals, I dont think twice to donate here when I have extra. Wherever you live, if you can not donate to this shelter, please research your local shelters, and donate whatever you can.

I had a wonderful experience at this shelter. The staff was knowledgeable, professional and nice. The kennels were the cleanest kennels I have ever seen. Anywhere. I would highly recommend this Shelter.
