Logan Middle School

When educators and administrators of a school in America infringe upon a student's first amendment rights, they are in the wrong! You think the t-shirt one young man was wearing was "distracting to the education of others." However, what you fail to realize is that if nothing had been mentioned about his shirt there would have been no distraction whatsoever. The administration of this school has failed in epic proportions and now the news media and the internet has broadcast this story across the country in such a way that now, major distractions will undoubtedly occur come Monday morning. This school has violated the first amendment of the American Constitution and for that reason should no longer receive any funding from the American Federal Government!

This school is a disgrace to America. Remove your children and write your congressman about the socialistic views this school enforces on its students. I urge parents to show up at their school boards and make written and verbal complaints until the staff is removed for being anti-US Govt. 2nd Amendment is a law and right not a disruption to class.

Would a t-shirt stating "Slow Down! Look for Kids!" cause a situation no! SO neither should this as law is law.

Jared Marcum. In April, Marcum, an eighth-grader at Logan Middle School in Logan, W. Va., was arrested when he refused to take off his NRA t-shirt. The New York Daily News reports:

The clothing kerfuffle began when Marcum wore a shirt bearing the NRA’s logo and a hunting rifle. As he stood in line in the cafeteria, a teacher ordered him to either change shirts or turn it inside out.

Marcum declined and was sent to the office, where an officer was dispatched after he again refused to comply with the school’s request.

Cops arrested him and charged him with disrupting the educational process and obstructing an officer.
IF THIS IS THE WAY THEY RUN A SCHOOL, DO NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN ATTEND THIS AWFUL MESS.

Late last week Marcum “appeared before a judge and was officially charged with obstructing an officer,” reports Fox News. If convicted, he could face up to a $500 fine or a year in prison. He will be back in front of the judge on July 11 if his attorney cannot get the charge dismissed before then.

One can understand this sort of silliness across the border in Maryland (as we have chronicled here and here) — but in West Virginia? This is, after all, the state whose senator’s campaign ad featured him shooting Obama’s cap-and-trade bill. Ah, those were the days.

What a smart way to teach our children about government. He has the right to express his views!!! Shame on you. When will people pull there heads out of the sand. It's not guns that are the issue, the bombing at Boston proved that, it's the mentality of the public! Don't get me wrong I hate violence, but was this really the right move.

This school is ridiculous! Mr.burrway needs to be fired! He has done several things that he needs fired for. He only breaks up girl fights and when he does he goes behind them and holds there chest!!! He needs fired! The water fountains are filthy and there is no soap in the bathroom! When there is soap it is filthy! I got a video of me dumping out the filth! And the dress code is ridiculous! I wear shorts slightly above mid thigh and get dress coded and when other girls wear shorts showing their butt they don't get in trouble!

When I attended schools in Logan country it was the worst time of my life. The kids were mean as hell . You'd get on the bus to go to school and someone would slap you in the back of you head , bus drivers did nothing . The kids had this game they played a " pile -on" they called it. A bunch of boys would pounce on you -no rhyme of reason . Nearly got hurt a couple times. Also they smoked pot in the back of the bus and cigarettes too. I went to the coal branch school-which is apparently shut down. Miss grimmit was a horrible dean , mr Espizito was a complete DK . I had these foot ball guys who kept harassing me all the time . One time they were threatening me with a Bowie knife on the bleachers in the gym. ( scraping the back of my neck and whispering threats ) - they had trapped me on all four sides, I had big guys behind me ,front and back - If it had not been for my friend Fred , I might not be here. They had this one coach, Mr Vance , he was one of the meanest people I ever met. He used home room to sell soda and chips to make extra money , mr espizito ran a similar enterprise . ( which seems to be contrary with laws regarding conflict of interest )A little history: I was sent to West Virginia to live with my grandmother because of a horrible situation at home . When I first registered with coal branch administrator -misses Ellis , her morning alcohol breath nearly knocked me over . The teachers at that school didn't give a ratz A about teaching, they were there to collect a pay check. For me , it was survival . I would walk to school rather than ride that dreadful school bus . I tried my best to do my studies but teachers like Mr Glenn ,Mr Mathis and Miss Jacobs were at a point in their careers where they didn't give a sh anymore . Miss Vance ( an English teacher who I don't think is related to coach Vance ) was caught in food stamp fraud . ..One time I was just a little bit over the line at the bus waiting area . She kicked me hard with her knee in the tail bone . I tried complain about it to other teachers and told my gran but none cared. One winter day It was too cold to walk so I rode the bus , nothing happened on the way in but on the way home one of the bus this bully tried to choke me with both hands . Again , nothing happened , nobody was arrested or even given a mean look . Another time another bully threatened my life , miss grimmit intervened but by the time she removed her blinders and saw how some of us were treated it was too late , I was on my way back to my abusive home . There were guys going to that school that were big and I received notes ,threats , nasty suggestive things all the time and none of the teachers did sh . I had to walk every day to and from school to get there safely . I think some of the jr high foot ball were on steroid , This one boy had always talked to me , he was very petit but he joined the foot ballers and that summer he really spouted ! There was a scandal involving another boy who joined the foot ballers . He was being harassed by mr espizito over the intercom quite a bit one day cuz he didn't want to play ball , I think it was something to do with the steroids. Mr Espizito kept calling for him to come to the office and the way he was saying it -over and over every few minutes , you could tell mr espizito didn't have his best interest in mind . Always sh like this at that school ... I wrote this after reading how "great " their school system is . No . It's not . I may need to write more on my experiences with this horrible school system and publish . Because all this talk of teaching and " no child left behind " is a load of rubbish .

Just cause theyre gross doesnt mean that they are not the best school ever. I used to go there, Last year, and the new school i go to is a peice of garbage. The education there is so good. The teachers try to connect with the students and thats why the kids want to learn. Even if they do work 24/7 and they say they hate it, they really dont. There is not one kid without a friend. And now that we jave a new principal it might be cleaned or whatever yall guys want. Im just saying dont judge a book by its cover. Just cause its not that pretty on the outside doesnt mean its not the best school in the world. Its my favorite school ever. And ive been to 8 different schools in the past 7 years and 2 of these years were the best years of my life being at logan middle school. Btw this is Kayla Gee. I think this school is okay. There is a few teachers like Mrs. Bush and Ms. Conn which are strict. I have seven teachers, I'll tell you 1st pd. through 9th pd.: Mr sigmon, Mrs. Perry, Mr. Burroway, Mrs. T. Wolford 4th & 5th, Ms. Ferrell, Mrs. Watkins (sub for rest of the year) this teacher is supposed to be Mrs. Maynard (she used to be my softball coach, for coalfield, which I'm NOT playing for this school, I'm playing for coalfield), Ms. Ferrell, and Ms. Conn. Ms. Conn yells at kids for no reason, she yells at my friend Mason Bostic for no reason gives him lunch detention for no reason.
