Paynes prairie is a vast plain area outside of Gainesville. This is just one of the places it can be observed. This location has a nice parking area. It costs $4 per car to park. There is a short walk to the welcome center. There is displays and information about the prairie. You can walk past the welcome center and continue down the concrete path to the three level wooden observation platform. Each level has an observation area, but you want to go to the top for a breath taking view of prairie and wildlife. If you're lucky, you might see some wild horses and some deer. Take your pair of binoculars, you'll need them for best view.

Love this place ....the visitor center and watch tower is beautiful. The watch tower provides beautiful views of the prairie and wild life (birds, wild horses, deers etc.)...there are lots of trails with good identification which begin from the visitor center.

Absolutely stunning! Bison are roaming about 200 yards away. 🦬

For a $6 entry fee this park is a deal. Very peaceful, something to treat my friends and family to.

Very peaceful place to visit specially the tower overlooking Paynes Prarie. You can see wild horses and sometimes buffaloes at a distance. Sometimes sand hill cranes too ..... but most of all the scenery of the prarie .....
