I was passing through this neighborhood on the south side of Margate after a tag sale and when I saw how nice and new looking this park was so I had to stop and check it out.

This park was recently renovated over 8 months when the city received a $200.000 grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection through their Land, Water, and Conservation fund program. Southgate Park first opened in Margate in 1978 and was high on the city's master plan for a refurbishment. Total renovations for the project cost $600,00 with the balance being paid by the City of Margate with money set aside from their 2020 budget. In April of 2021, the city held a reopening ceremony at the park.

Renovations to the park included a basketball court with two hoops, an exercise trail with 6 fitness stations, and a covered playground with ADA accessible astro turf, two different age play structures, and an ADA accessible swing. I love how the park planners thought about children of all needs and abilities when designing the playground.

I had a great morning walk around the exercise path trying out the six exercise stations that work every part of your body. I especially liked the one where you can twist your waist which tightens up your obliques which are very important for making your core strong. This is a really great neighborhood park and the southside Margate residents have a beautiful new place to work out and play.

I grew up going to that park. Alot has changed and I freaking love it! It really needed a remodel and was gonna see if I can get together with some of my friends that grew up there to see if we can come together & fix it up per the city 👌🏾👍🏾

My daughter and I like this park. Its updated look and equipment is great for young and old.
There's also a walking trail with exercise equipment, a basketball court and a jungle gym that is definitely fun to climb about on. It's a nice park in a quiet neighborhood.

I come to park all the time, it's well maintained. It has a half mile track, outdoor exercise equipment, a small double ended basketball court, and playground set. The hours are from Sunrise to Sunset. It's a good option for small children ages 2+.
