It was small statue , but it should have been bigger.Such a big talent! It's a small little town and the park was beautiful. It was sad on a Sunday afternoon and no one around!

You can feel the essence of RC at this special place that is very close to his childhood home. The incredibly talented sculptor did an amazing job capturing his spirit and mannerisms.

Nice little park and statue next to a small fishing lake tributing Ray Charles. Sadly, the main dock is rotted and has been closed for years.

I didn't know he was born in Greenville . That was amazing.

Very interesting collection of memorabilia documents and photos which add to the understanding of the history of Thomasville and the experience of being black in the south, as well as appreciation for the contributions of black Americans. I spent over 2 hours there and could easily have spent several more. I will probably visit there again sometime. While it says this museum is temporarily closed when you do a Google search, if you call the phone number listed, there's a good chance that you might be able to get in for what, in my case, turned out to be an excellent private tour from a very knowledgeable young man.

I was so surprised to find this area. I didn't know Ray Charles spent his childhood in Greenville, FL. The house is protected behind a fence and a nice plaque commemorates the house. But be prepared; it is in a run down area. Just a short trip into town and there is a small park with a lake and a very nice statue of Charles at the keyboard.

This was cool! Definitely worth seeing if you are in this town. We rode motorcycles from where we were camping in Perry, FL to see it. It was a nice little getaway and we learned of Ray Charles' life.
