Hibiscus Dental

The doctor is great and so is all of the dental assistance no complaints there whatsoever. Donna the secretary is my only reason I stopped going to this place. She is unresponsive, never follows up on email or phone requests, I always had to call back and push her to fulfill my requests. The way she manages billing is subpar, it is so confusing that I was forced to pay way more out of pocket than I should have. I have BCBS insurance and a supplemental dental insurance program yet I paid way more just to have the billing nightmares go away. In my opinion she is way under qualified for the position. Donna is in need of an assistant, she is not good for this office. I'm sure she is nice but when I'm spending money for services, I expect a level of competence that I just don't get with this office.

I have been going to Hibiscus Dental for about 3 years now, and had some extensive crown work done among other things. Dr. Sweta Gunnell and her staff are fantastic in my opinion. My whole family goes there now and I readily recommend them to others. I am also one of those people who are petrified of the dentist. No longer with Hibiscus Dental in Satellite Beach. I have never had a bad experience and they ALWAYS go out of their way to be very caring toward their patients. That is my experience.

I really like this office. Simple, easy to make appts and no one tries to sell me useless nonsense. I see the dentist each time I get a cleaning too. I will say that Dr. G is such a sweet person. She is compassionate and is very good at what she does. Kindness means so much more than people think.

Dr. Gunnell and her team at the Satellite Beach Hibiscus Dental are Superb, here are 12 reasons why.
After my tooth filled twenty years ago broke in half, a neighbor who is an oral surgeon suggested that I see Sweta Gunnell, D.M.D. at Hibiscus Dental. Here are all the things that were great about my experience.

1. I was able to see Dr. Gunnell one day after I called their office.
2. They gave the option to fill out all of new patient forms online, which is so much faster than filling our forms with a pen.
3. I was given a 3:00 p.m. appointment, I arrived at 2:55 p.m. and by 3:00 they called my name and started.
4. There office is has the latest technology. The dental assistant took an x-ray and then put a camera / probe in my mouth and on the monitor on the wall I could see by broken tooth from the top and side and understand my condition. Clearly with half my tooth gone this was not something anyone could fix by filling in a small whole or chip. I was going to need a crown.
5. I saw Dr. Gunnell who explained the situation, I was given the option of getting a temporary crown right away or coming back on another day to do the procedure. She was kind, confident, caring, gentle, upbeat, and poised, I knew I wanted her to do the procedure. I was pleasantly relieved to be able to get the temporary crown the same day.
6. Before the procedure began, Dr. Gunnell's assistant gave me a small note that said what the total cost would be, how much my dental insurance would pay and how much my out-of-pocket cost would be. I did not ask for this information, and often times with medical or dental care the price is not disclosed until the end. I wish all medical professionals followed this high standard with respect to transparency and disclosure.
7. Dr. Gunnell was very careful that I had the proper amount of anesthesia.
8. I had a crown done many years ago with another great dentist who moved out of the area. A crown can be a time consuming procedure. Once Dr. Gunnell started the procedure, she carefully and efficiently completed it. Some dentists are a little slow, some jump from room to room, trying to treat two or three patients simultaneously. Dr. Gunnell is engaged. When she is in room you have her undivided attention.
9. I was as comfortable as one could be when getting a crown.
10. The procedure went well, my temporary crown is comfortable, is pain fee one day after the procedure, and the shape is well matched to the shape of the tooth before it broke.
11. There office is serious about COVID-19 safety. Staff were masked. Pens after use are moved from a clean pen cup to a used pen cup. This made me much more comfortable.
12. The next day her office called to check on how I was doing.

While nobody wants to go to the dentist, for dental care I would rather go to Hibiscus dental than anywhere else.

I agree that Donna is incompetent as a receptionist and a Billing person. Scheduling and billing has been messed up. I waited in their office several times, because she messed it up. And then today, as I'm driving all the way from Daytona Beach, the traffic is bad. I'm 15 minutes late, and they refuse to see me. I have a 3 hour round trip, and they wouldn't see me. Wasted time and money. They are also very critical and demanding. I found Susan, my hygienist to be always telling me what I'm doing wrong. Never going back and will tell others the same.

Dr Gunnell, staff and office people work together so well that a trip to the dentist turns into a very pleasant experience. The Dr and her assistants keep a close eye on your comfort level and the kind, gentle care is absolutely appreciated.

I can say in all honesty, Dr. Gunnell and the team at Hibiscus Dental in Satellite Beach go above and beyond. Our family of five have some unique needs and we’ve felt nothing but dignified, authentic, personal and professional care from this dentist and her team. Thank you, Hibiscus Dental!
