As a new citizen of Jelenia Góra and a person avoiding doctor's like a plague, I was very pleasantly surprised with the services provided. I am back in Poland, after many decades abroad, so the medical system here is kind offoreign to me. Initially I went to someplace called NiSOM. It's like a special non emergency department operating during holidays. I was treated right away as I had an issue breathing. After initial treatment I was taken to SOR, which is I guess equivalent of an Emergency Room. Initially I was asked if my state was bad enough to warrant me being there and as I had one previous experience of allergic reaction that involved ambulance, I stated the fact that I do not feel comfortable waiting for my regular doctor visit in three days and although I feel a bit better, my symptoms persist. I was admitted and treated very professionally, thoroughly examined to and taken care of very well. Now few observations: It is very evident that the hospital is not at full staff and cannot operate at full capacity. I have heard of the medical migration to the West and that is evident. Having said that, the people there are doing their best and a kind word to them goes a long way no mater how sick or scared you might be. The facility where it counts is very modern and well tended to, there is renovation of many important sections. Although there were few irregularities that can be overlooked, like a paper towels on the higenic despenser, which should not be used during any procedure to dry as they may have contaminants. Like I said minor infractions in the grand scheme of things. I want to really thank the medical staff, the attending paramedic whose name I don't know and especially Dr. Krzysztof Wolski.
