Biķernieki Memorial

The sky was blue and the silence was broken only by the occasional traffic on the nearby road and the sound of birdsong. Such a beautiful, peaceful spot in the forest. It was hard to reconcile the tranquility of this place with the unimaginable horrors that were perpetrated here.

The whole forest is good for walks.
Memorial.. Well, if you find out about the history, not the happiest place to be at.

Interesting place, but it’s just a regular forest and there are no facilities. Even getting there is tricky.

My visit was very sobering. To see the result of the depths of evil that humanity can achieve. It is such a dark era of our past. I encourage all who are in the area to visit. There is such a contrast depicted here - the contrast between the beauty of God's creation of nature exhibited in the forest and the dark and ugly result of evil depicted by the many stones representing the senseless death of so many.

A must visit!
