Latvian Riflemen Monument

This is monument of the Latvian Riflemen what were fighting for Latvian Independence. Actually monument was errected during Soviet times and it was calle Red Latvian Riflemen Monument. And Red Riflemen were fighting versus Latvian independence at the Soviet side. So time is changing , mounuments are standing still. Only question is the name. Now at this place some interesting events are going on. Like Dinner in the Sky, see pictures. So 5 stars for Dinner in the Sky and nice weather that Day.

The monument is not something very exciting but the area around this is very nice and worth exploring. There are a couple of famous churches closeby, a few nice restaurants and a couple of sheesha places as well.
This place is very well connected by the local bus and the bus stop is just 30 metres from here. So do visit the place and keep a couple of hours handy to enjoy the neighborhood as well.

well it is a big statue with a few guys on it. If you already know the history of the Latvian rifleman then maybe this will be more interesting to you. As is there is very information on who or what they are and so you shouldprobably bolster your understanding with a quick Wikipedia read unless you are traveling with a guide that can explain it to you.

Massive communist statue ... Not much to say about it though, I didn't like it but it's not that jarring in its location

Beautiful square and also the statue. Near the Riga's city hall. So many interesting and wonderful views over there, close to Dalgava river.

Located just off the house of the blackheads facing the river, the monument made of red granite has a conflicting past.
