I wonder if covid has taken its toll on the market. Last time I was here it was bustling with life and it was difficult to move around, just as a market should be. Now it was a lot of closed stalls and very few vendors. You can still get good deals on fish, meat and vegetables, but the vendors are not interested in haggling and making your day anymore… hope they soon get back to how it used to be.

Outstanding farmers market! Prices are amazingly affordable at this quality level. Huge market similar to the Prevoz market in Odessa, Ukraine but much cleaner. The entire city of Riga is AMAZINGLY clean. Great vendors at this market. I go every week here to stock up on Kraut, Salami, cured meat, cherries and wow worthy strawberries.

It’s always fun checking out local markets when traveling and Riga Central Market is no exception.

It’s a functional market selling good to locals, from meats and seafood to clothes and household items. You’ll also find souvenir shops there.

The bakery and other deli counters looked good, probably worth going there to sample some of the local food.

Extremely lively place. We mostly liked the flower shops. 100s of species and very cheap! The fish market was incredible. All types of fish are sold here. Vegetables and fruits look freshly picked up! And the location is prime too. It's located near the Latvian Academy of Sciences, bus station, train station and Daugava river.

Reportedly a must see but I just found it okay. If you need to buy food and veg great otherwise it is just a very large farmers market (inside and out). Rather large buildings that look like they should be housing Zeppelins not farm produce. Lots of little cafes and eating stalls but quite standard stuff really. Nice to see local goods and produce but that’s about it…it’s a market!

A must see in Riga, one of the best markets we’ve ever been to. So many interesting thing that you can buy! So many different fermented veggies, smoked fish, cheeses and beautiful flowers. We went early on a Saturday morning, it was very lively. We had different savory and sweet pastries from a couple of bakeries for breakfast.

Nice market with great options of food, particularly seafood. It was clean and organized inside. Vendors were courteous and not aggressively offering stuff, as I've seen in most markets around the world.

Is this the world’s largest market? Maybe. These zeppelin hangars are fun to wander around and they are not too touristy yet. Get a guide to take you so you can try pickles and cabbage and so on. You can eat there too. Oddly, the vegetables and fruit are outside. There is an underground world but you need to hire a guide to see it. The market is super clean and. only one wall, inside a restaurant, hints at what it was like in Soviet times (according to the guide).
