This airport was very nice for our group of General Aviation aircraft, as the people there helped to get AVGAS 100LL. However, the fuel station was out of order and a mechanic helped fuelling with canisters. Great experience. Free wifi at C office - with the app TAXIFY your taxi will arrive in less than 4 minutes.

Although this place has a very good potential for development of tourism, air-traffic and civil aviation purposes, but it's being heavily underutilized. Looking forward to the aviation enthusiasts and Riga city council authority to step up efforts toward the improvement of this interesting place.

To learn about development of aviation in Latvia, go to the Spilve Airport Museum. This is the oldest airport in Riga with a unique architectural pearl of Stalin’s time – passengers’ waiting room. Though international passenger flights are not being serviced any more at the airport,
it is used by small aviation and avio enthusiasts.

Spilve Airport (Latvian: Spilves lidosta, also given as Rīgas Centrālā Lidosta – Riga Central Airport) is a former civilian and military airport in Latvia located 5 km north of Riga's city centre, from which aircraft took off as early as the First World War. It became the first international airport of Riga in the 1920s and fell into disuse in the 1980s after Riga International Airport was built.

Amazing airport terminal from USSR times. It’s amazing that they wanted to make an airport like a palace or so (I guess that was supposed to reflect train stations build in a palace manner. It’s a real palace and only some elements points that it has something to do with aviation (like a wind turbine on facade)
