Despite some of the other reviews, I personally had a wonderful time in the hotel. For my side, the room was good, having all that I needed for my stay. There was an odd odour placed on the room, but it did not really bother me.
The windows could use some work on the functionality department though, as one would barely open and the other had handles, that did nothing.
The service was good and the food at the hotel was cheap and delicious. The wait times weren't bad and the staff was quite friendly and nice.
Location-wise, the train station was only a small walk away. More than that, some of the greatest sights and locations in Riga were in a walking distance!
I would mayhap take the 4 star rating still with some grain of salt, as this all comes from a view of a student whose used to much poorer locations. Still, I personally do highly recommend the hotel, as long as you can get past the old-timey decorations and furnishing.

The man who greeted us was so cheerful despite being clearly very busy. The best hotel check in experience I've ever had.
Rooms were comfortable and the breakfast included was good for the price. Though you may struggle if you're vegan, not many options.
This hotel has character and I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect place, everything is in walking distance. Really clean, the breakfast is good. A bit old-fashioned but totally recommended!

Nice Staff. Good breakfast. Best part, the room was new and well designed and clean. Bathroom was beautiful. Wifi is good.

We stayed here for our first visit to Riga Christmas Market and found it to be warm and comfortable, with good sized rooms and a wide selection of hot and cold foods for breakfast. It was very central with easy walking distance to the train and bus stations in one direction, and the central shops, restaurants, and Christmas Market in the other. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again.

We stayed 5 nights. Central located in old town, okay rooms. I liked the bed. Breakfast is okay, but I have seen better. Room cleaning was not done unless you tell them. We tried dinner, but I think there are better alternatives in city. A small gym and sauna would have improved my impression.

Hotel Monte Kristo in Riga is conveniently located in the old town, and just across a tram stop.
Alice and Sonia at the reception were courteous and helpful.
The hotel has an elevator, which helps a lot when one travels with suitcases. The room is quite tight but functional. It has huge windows.
One issue we faced was that the heater wasn't working. We had the staff at the reception lend us a portable heater to make our stay a bit more comfortable.

Hotel in old town. Friendly staff. Our room is in the old part, when we entered the room ,it smelled odd, maybe the wall to wall carpet ? We wanted a double bed, but got to single. No fridge in room. Bathroom cold, the shower needs to be renovated
