This lovely campground is situated right on a slow moving river. About half the sites overlook the water and there is lots of wildlife to see here. We observed a beaver, a muskrat, woodpeckers, swallows, finches and more. The heavily wooded sites are all pull-through, U-shaped, so there is lots of privacy. Free firewood is available. Water is non-potable.

Bring lots of bug spray. Between the neighbouring farms and the slow-moving water, there is a ton of bugs.

The playground is getting a bit worn and the sand below desperately needs weeding (nearby aspen shoots are encroaching).

Always quiet. Just the best campground ever. We have been here 3 years in a row and plan on coming every year till we can't. Love love love this place.

Affordable and fun! We love camping with just a tent and a fire and this place was beautiful. The man running the place is very Nice and you get some free fire wood every day! Lots of wild life and sounds we haven't heard before so it was a nice adventure. Just make sure to bring cash to pay for your site :)

Interested in this camp ground? I was, I should have trusted my instinct when the person who answered the phone started with a confused sounding hi? With myself being forced to ask is this mound red camp ground. Even though it seemed he was answering his call while he was working ANOTHER job we still choose to not judge a book by its cover and drove down anyway ( first come first serve BS).

We picked out lot, tired out best to enjoy the experience yet it was terrible.

Never met such unfriendly and unhelpful people and staff. Even the campers here were beyond NOT friendly. Had a horrible experience, never again.

PLEASE DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID.. MANAGEMENT HERE IS A JOKE. Pictures on google are very misleading and overall we wish we never came here.

The last time I was there we had a horrible experience when drunks were driving through our camp spot. They tossed gas on our tent then burnt it down. We were lucky to escape with our lives that night as they chased us with their trucks. We ran away through the bush leaving everything behind and returned in the morning with an RCMP escort. Everything was destroyed and my truck was damaged. That was about 1986-87. So I am going back next week and praying things have improved.

We have always had a good experience at Mound Red! The caretaker is helpful and amenable. The place is clean and maintained. However, the County of Wetaskiwin should spend some of the money they take in to improve the areas around the fire-pits and trailer parking pads.
