My cousin has been singing the praises of HomeRoom Diner since she discovered it shortly after moving to Devon last year, so when we stopped by for a visit on Canada Day this is was our dinner destination.

Walking in, it's decorated modestly and brightly, the atmosphere is like a small-town diner - friendly relaxed staff, the owner greets the regulars as you seat yourselves, and nowhere are you rushed.

Prices are a bit higher than the typical diner, BUT the food is definitely an elevated experience , and in my books is worth it, at least with respect to what I ordered (the stuffed pork chop with mashed potatoes and vegetables). It definitely beat the last meal out I had with a steakhouse in Edmonton which was over-seasoned and came in around double the price.

It's difficult to find a good pork chop, in fact if I'm out I usually avoid ordering it because most places overcook it. I don't know if you could get closer to perfectly done than what the chef here prepared. The chop was pleasantly seasoned with a slight charring of the surface for that crust and a bit of smokiness, without drying out the meat. Each slice gave me a juicy tasty bite, nicely accompanied by the apricot chutney.

Something else I'm not a fan of in general is cooked vegetables, especially carrots, again because everyone overcooks them. Here, after sampling the first one on my plate, followed by another, and another, my wife looked at me and commented in shock that I was eating 'cooked' carrots. The simple answer is that they did them right, with a light touch - mild seasoning with a bit of butter and smoke while lightly cooking them so they're tender on the outside but still firm throughout.

The only downside, for me, is that to go back to try the steak or one of their weekly specials, it's an hour out of my way. Guess I'm going to have to visit my cousin a little more often.

Cozy hometown diner, we really enjoyed the breakfast poutine and donut french toast we got!

My bf and I stopped there for supper after a drive to Calmar. I was impressed with supporting local only. I got the pork chop. Unfortunately i dont think it was fully cooked and have suffered for this for going on 3 days. I had high expectations when dinning here but under cooked food especially pork isnt okay.

Awesome dining experience in Devon. The owner is always there and working hard to make the experience a great one. I enjoy dining in or just grabbing something to go. I like that the ingredients are always fresh and local. The brunch is great and I highly recommend the pancakes with bacon, apples, and cheese. I like the bangers and mash and Oliver burger on the dinner menu. I enjoy trying the weekly special too. Hands down the best place to dine in Devon!

Went for Octoberfest this year and the food was excellent! Very high quality and delicious. The staff were professional and kind, and the service was great! The biggest highlight for us is that everything is sourced locally! Three cheers for Homeroom Diner!

We have been for brunch and for dinner and we always leave deliciously satisfied. It’s worth the drive from Edmonton. Friendly owner, fabulous chef, great menu and really good value. You’d pay way more in Edmonton- something to be said about the small town advantage.

Not many places were open to dine in in Devon. This place was. And food waw amazing. Owner was busy to accomodate all the people by himself. I tried their flatbread which was amazing and their coke was so different!
