Our first trip to Chief Logan State Park, we enjoyed it very much rangers and staff were very friendly. Several playgrounds in various locations provide ample areas for the kids to play. A fishing pond is also on the grounds and it was pleasant. Multiple shelter houses for hosting birthday parties, family reunions, etc.
We were suprised to come across a small Wildlife exhibit, they have a wild boar, a couple bob cats, a owl, redtail hawk and 2 sibling bears. The bears werw rescued 22 years ago after the mother bear was struck by a vehicle. The snakes are seasonal and none were available at the time. Admission was a extremely modest $2 per person.

Our room was really nice…walk out patio and very clean. We had dinner at their “Farm to Table” event. It was delicious and everything was fresh! The Turkey was my favorite but others in our party had other favorites.

The outdoor pool was very clean and the slide and mushroom were great.

The rooms in the lodge are a great value and the entire park is beautiful.

The lodge was very nice and I enjoyed the area greatly. The mountains of the park are gorgeous. It was a very peaceful setting.

I found the trails to be in bad shape. All of them had some obstruction that needed to be cleared. But, they were also hard to get on because the trailhead signage was poor or there was no place to park to get on the trail. Finally, the map needs to be updated because it references several closed trails. I also don't understand why those trails were closed because at least one was easier to hike than an open trail.

Perhaps indicative of how the trails are not important, after spending 8 hours hiking over a weekend, I never saw another person on the trails. This provides excellent deer encounters.

I loved my visit to this state park, so beautiful, the fishing pond was full of wildlife, and of course people fishing and enjoying their Sunday. I love the old train that sits in the park and the employees were wonderful, very informative. Plenty of places to park, plenty of picnic areas and camping and playgrounds for the children. Will definitely go back this fall❤️

Chief Logan State Park is certainly one of my granddaughter and my favorite parks in West Virginia! The indoor pool and hot tub are always nice to have at night, and the large outdoor pool is spectacular!
The outdoor fire pit is really wonderful on cool autumn nights, as is star searching through high powered telescopes!
Elk tours are now offered on specifics dates in September and October with reservations. We are looking forward to our next visit!!!

I love WV State Parks, and Chief Logan is one near and dear to my heart! It's a beautiful place in any season. The holiday light show is amazing! Don't miss the fall colors on the hiking trails or the wildflowers blooming in the spring! And a summer day spent at the pool is sure to be a crowd pleaser! Don't miss this Southern WV gem!
