Cabins are great. We enjoyed a nice quiet stay in the snow covered mountains. Woke to deer resting on our front yard. Few other visitors this time of year. Can hike from your cabin. Dog friendly (on leash)

Lost River is a lovely retreat even for a short weekend stay.
We were housed in Cabin #20 that has a nicely open deck toward the acceas road.
We had time to loop 2 trails back to the cabin. The short one Loblolly trail (took one hour) and the next day we walked the Razor Ridge trail ( a 3 hour walk).
Lots of green in the forest, bloiming flowers on the forest bed and the trees.
All in all it was a wonderful stay.

Lost River state park is beautiful. The staff was helpful and friendly. So many trails, little streams & little bridge’s.

Fantastic place! We come here every year and every year is just as amazing as before. My grandmother grew up here and worked in the restaurant or something like that here, so this place has always been somewhere we loved and cherished and visited. It's so beautiful and peaceful. The cabins are fantastic! There are quite a few to rent here. There is a pool, basketball, volleyball, an obstacle course/fitness trail, disc golf, all kinds of hiking trails, tennis, and so much more. It's not really near a grocery store or anything (about 30 minutes away), no cell service - which I actually don't mind - but wifi in the cabins. There is also horse riding nearby.

We love this park. The Cabins are very nice. The staff are friendly & helpful. Very beautiful here. There are playgrounds for the kids, a pool for summer months, family exercise trail, other trails, either a valley ball court or a tennis court(not sure) disc golf area, & horseback riding(separate cost from cabin rental) there are a lot more things here to do as well.

I was heading to Swallow Falls and decided to stop here instead since it's a short drive. When I arrived, I already lost cell reception awhile back around the time I entered WV. Google maps was still working to take me here.. fortunately, I paid attention while driving here that I managed to figure my way back to VA.

This park is really designed for campers and those staying in cabins. This would give them plenty of time to explore the park. I was hoping to get to the overlook but it wasn't clear in how to get there. I found the pool, fitness trail, house museum area and sulfur springs. According to Google Maps, the overlook is to the right away from the cabins, but I drove around and saw 2 paths that looked like they might be for both cars and possibly hiking? I wish the trailheads were better marked for those visiting for the first time. I guess I need to study the park more before returning, but I don't think I will return. Long drive.

There a very sweet park dog running loose around the park. She walked with us for awhile until we were getting into the car. One if my dogs is a bit feisty and the park dog was very sweet and submissive. No worry about dog fights.

We geocached hiked and rode horses on October 23 it was an amazing place. The road from Morefield had amazing views. The park itself was in it's full glory of leaves changing. The ladies and I loved the hike to the overlooks and the horse back riding. We enjoyed the fire tower and the sulphur spring. Got to see a lot of the park. Be sure to check out the stables an hour ride is only $26. AMAZING ! I am working on visiting all the WV state parks and in ove half way done. Definitely worth the trip out. I'd call ahead about the horse back riding it will be worth it! I'll be back to home and visit this state park.

Remote and rustic. Lots of hiking trails to keep you busy. Build yourself a roaring fire in the evening to keep warm... but bring food, there's no restaurant!
