Due to a hardship, my family had to move, we wanted to try to keep our son in the same school. Our son is 6 years old and a kindergartner at Opequean Elementary. We now live close by the school, too close to receive a bus for My son, apparently.
We have one car, which my boyfriend must drive to work. We also have two other children ages 1 and 2. I have made several calls to the bus office and they refuse to provide a bus for our son! They tell me I can walk ten minutes to the next bus stop or walk him to school. Mind you, I am pushing 60 lbs of toddler in a double stroller, all the while holding My son's hand and trying to walk them through the school traffic coming at every direction. Although it is a very long walk; it is cold and if it were to rain all of my children would be wet in the cold, I would have to send My son to school soaking wet and all of my children will end up sick!
I have told my situation to the bus office and they say they can't have a bus come any further. It would be a two minute drive past the school but they are refusing. My son is not the only student in the townhouse complex.
Opequean Elementry is k-2 grades, these are small children they are denying transportation to!! This is unacceptable! Horrible, horrible, horrible!!! Who denies Elementry children transportation?!

I a. Just a kid and my bus driver support sucks she is trying to get to teach other kids respect and I thing that it is their parents job. Now I have to sit up front and teach these kids. My mom has a very long list of complaints and it isn't to long before she calls the bus garage.

Today your “wonderful” Transportation Department lost a 9 year old boy after he was dropped off in the wrong place after the correct paperwork was filed at the beginning of the school year. And when your bus driver was called and asked where this child was, they said they remembered him getting on the bus but don’t remember him getting off. What kind of show are you all running? You all need to fix your lack of communication get on the ball people. These are our children we are trusting you with!!

Bus drivers constantly cutting drivers off. Bus 465 purposely did this today coming out of mill creek school on 11. Drivers in both north and south bound lanes had to slam on their breaks to avoid hitting it.

I worked for Berkeley County schools as a bus driver for about 3 years. It's one of the few jobs I actually miss, and I've had many jobs over the last 35 years. Great staff. Professional, caring and supportive of staff and community served. I'd be happy to work there again in a heartbeat. There's an awful lot of planning and events that take place to make all those buses run daily. If things don't work out perfectly 100% of the time, that should be expected. I hope all the families served in the county get the best and safest service possible.

A super great team of leaders in the transportation department. I have read through a few of the complaints and parents need to understand there’s a huge shortage in drivers not just in Berkeley County but nation wide and I am proud to say all the bus drivers are going above and beyond to help each other get the kids to and from school safely.

The Driver of Bus #84 shows no knowledge in the operation of driving. He entered ROSEMONT the wrong direction and the drove recklessly almost hitting me. In his haste to correct his error any knowledge of driving was quickly lost. The driver of BUS #84 is in dire need of classes on the correct operation of a school BUS. He's an accident waiting to happen.
