We stopped by the home while it was closed for the winter. The home is beautiful with early American architecture. The grounds of the property has rich history as well.

The grounds and house are beautiful. And I understand how important and valuable it is to keep it up, but the price is pretty steep. I've been to many historical sites like this and it was, by far, the most expensive.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Two staff ladies were great and the house and antiques were super.

So glad we decided at the end of a busy day to take this beautiful ORIGINAL house in for a tour. Staying in family for so many decades must have been meant to be and now to be passed on for people to come and visit . Our tour guides, sorry forgot there names, but I know they were from Parkersburg, stayed a little over for us to visit and was told many wonderful stories about this wonderful piece of history. Came to Marietta for a couple days and wished we were here longer, we will be back. Thanks for everything Gary

Great experience to see a part of our history you do not find in any school history classes or books. If you get the chance you should visit this wonderful place with excellent host to guide you thru.

A true hidden treasure is among us! A must see! Amazing tour guides, with a wealth of knowledge . ( and great personalities!!) For all the " locals" who have not been there...you are missing a hidden gem in your own back yard. I will be going back....it's that good!

If you love history you must stop here at this awesome "piece of American history".
George Washington was married to a Henderson and their family was involved in the early years of us gaining independence from England and the formulation of country that was free from religious persecution, high taxation, arrest without a warrant, etc, etc. The mansion is full of everything that the Henderson's saved over the years, and they threw out nothing. It's such a time capsule. And the school room! Wow, wait until you see it!
There is so much more including a wonderful tour by one of the volunteers. Today it was Norm and Judy. Most wonderful, informational guides! Free parking. It costs $10 for the charity per person. Well worth it. Plan on spending two hours here. Pack a picnic and eat under the pavilion near the parking. We plan on going back a second time.
