This is an O.K. cinema. The staff is friendly and the building is fairly clean. The biggest reason for just 3 stars is every time I've been here right before the movie is supposed to start, there are multiple previews or commercials that obviously have video but all that is ever played is the audio. Also, the movies usually start several minutes late. Just seems like such an easy thing to make happen correctly as I've never seen this issue at the Marquee Cinema at South Ridge.

Nice staff, clean facilities, tasty popcorn and easy parking. I love having a hometown theater with current movies and a variety of times. Well done Teays Valley Cinemas!

So Labor day Saturday was National Cinema day. Movie tickets and some refreshments were $3 at theaters.

I thought it might be fun to go see movies in multiple theaters this day since the gas money would be made up from the savings at the theaters. So we started in Charleston, WV and watched movies at theaters in Nitro, Teays Valley and Barboursville, WV. I felt like this would be a good chance to try out theaters that we had never visited.

The Teays Valley Cinemas was actually my least favorite of the 3 theaters we visited. Howvever, I will admit, this theater was the cheapest on refreshments of any we used this day.

I loved that they made the offer of a cup of water for less vs. a bottled water. First, because most places/theaters that try to push bottled water on you usually only have Disante brand (which I'm not a fan of) and second, I do prefer ice in my drinks. So for that offer, they win big points with me. Also, I noticed they have pretty good refreshment choices, including pizza, I don't see that everywhere.

Their theater seating is where they lost me. The seats only recline slightly and you have to work to hold yourself in that slightly reclined spot. The seats naturally force you in an upright, 90 degree seating position. I've sat in airline seats that were more comfortable honestly. I will give them a little credit and say that the seating row-wise was well thought out, since it's so steep, no matter how tall someone in front of you might be, you still wouldn't have any trouble seeing over them. And if you were trying to keep an eye on kids sitting down below you, it wouldn't be difficult.

For $3 a ticket, I can't complain too much. And for all I know, maybe all of their seats aren't so uncomfortable, I was only in 1 theater. It was a good way to kill a day, I did enjoy the movie enough, so I wasn't completely disappointed.

They didnt have any heat on. It was really cold in the theater. I had a coat on and kept my hands in my pockets . My legs were really cold. I will bring a cover next time.

The projection and sound were both messed up for the ENTIRE movie I payed to see. I complained twice to the staff but nobody ever even came to look at it. I then emailed the management and they didn't care to respond. What is even the point in running a movie theater if you care this little for films or audiences?

The film sound was in stereo with no sound coming from anywhere but directly behind the screen, the image was extremely dark and also cropped in because it was set to the wrong aspect ratio. I kind of miss when theaters had projectionists, but nowadays nobody there has a clue how anything works.

We arrived early for our movie. The lights were off in our theater and did not come up after the movie either. Our theater was very cold. We had to leave our coats on. Our kids had their hoods and gloves on as well.

The volume is WAY TOO LOUD!!! If you value your hearing and healthy eardrums, then this is NOT the place to visit. Usually I add many photos to my reviews. However my visit to Teays Valley Cinemas required holding my ears for most of the movie, which was uncomfortable to say the least. My husband took me for my birthday, so I did not want to seem ungrateful for his thoughtfulness. The theater was way too cold.. Any other time, I would have just left. In the future, this is a hard pass.
