If you'd like to have crippling anxiety for your entire life or your children have it, be sure to visit Dr. Adkins. As a child of 10 when I went here, he was extremely ruff, rude and downright mean. I would sit for 3 hours after being numbed and then have to be numbed once again. To this day going to the dentist gives me great anxiety. The day he removed my braces, he fractured my teeth. I'm so glad will never have to let this man anywhere near me. I will state the women who worked in that office we're nice, some more than others. Save yourselves and kids, find someone else.

Dr. Adkins was a horror. He fractured my jaw during an extraction several years ago. He didn't stop after several attempts from myself to communicate that he was hurting me. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.

My children and myself all see Dr. Adkins, and I highly recommend him. He and his staff are all very friendly and helpful. They also do beautiful work also.

Horrible bedside manner.
Unprofessional.
Incredibly rude and indifferent.

Went in with severe jaw pain, they took an Xray and the dentist came in. He didn't even look in my mouth. Just glanced at the Xray and said "it's a tooth infection" and dropped me on antibiotics and walked out. That's the only interaction he could be bothered to give me. A week later I couldn't take the constant pain anymore and I couldn't eat or sleep. I went to another dentist in Charleston and he actually looked in my mouth. Turns out that my tooth was cracked and there was an exposed nerve. The new dentist put a cap on and some sealant around it and the pain went away almost immediately. Atkins could have saved me alot of pain and misery had he actually cared to look.

Went to this dentist multiple times for care. Bedside manner incredibly rude, very dismissive to patient concerns, was very frustrated when I couldn’t open my mouth completely (severe TMJ.) Went in March for constant, severe pain in a molar and he told me it was the way I was biting. Filed down the molar from a previous filling I’d gotten from Atkins. Said I was good to go. I left that day still in throbbing pain — went to a new dentist today months later because I couldn’t take the pain anymore. The new dentist informed me that I’ve had a hole in my molar for months, and every filling Atkins performed on me was done incorrectly. The molar also has nerve damage. Thanks to Atkins, I will be getting a root canal on this molar. If he could’ve bothered to look, he could’ve saved me a lot of pain and money. DO NOT GO HERE. The drive to Charleston is worth it.
