Wasn't expecting much. But was still disappointed. The historical part was nice but nothing to go out of the way for. Looked like a nice place to bring side by side out to.

If you are already out that way and just exploring or taking in new sites then it is great but other than that I would not make the trip again unless I am already in the area and maybe wanting to have a picnic. I don’t know why there are so many inaccurate photos linked to this site but they are very misleading. It is just an open field with a few picnic tables and then right next to them you will find this stone and a Little Rock wall that was built around the head spring. It is beautiful don’t get me wrong but not so much that it is worth a long trip to get to. This Sunday was my first time to this site. We have driven past it many different times and was excited to make a stop by there while we were out riding the Harley. I am glad that I stopped and got to see what this was about but at the same time I was very disappointed because it is not at all what you would expect. It is a very peaceful place though and nice for those of us that enjoy nature.

An interesting bit of history that I learned about a long time ago in school. The Fairfax Stone was great to see and it doubles as the head spring to the Potomac River. Plus a neat little area to have a picnic and walk the dog. Not too far off of the beaten path and a nice place to visit.

Beautiful place of history and nature. Makes you wonder what it was like to stand here hundreds of years ago.
