Greg does a great job keeping the fort up and events. The cast is very informative.

Stumbled upon this park when passing through. We wanted something to do after our hike.
The museum was small but seeing the fort and viewing the blacksmith work was excellent. The blacksmith was very knowledgeable as were the ladies who did the demonstration on weaving. I believe her name was Ruth. All staff were knowledgeable and answered questions with details supported by facts. This place is worth a stop. They have a picnic area and boat launches too. Also the outside restrooms were extremely clean!

Nice historic place to visit for a couple hours. Historical actors very knowledgeable and did a great job at sharing what life was like during the time represented. A lot of items to see that were used in colonial times by homesteaders. Working blacksmith shop with great blacksmith both showing and telling about blacksmiths during colonial times.
Craftspeople making their crafts and telling about them.
Family friendly, easy walking to each building, and a nice Rail to Trail path to walk on adjoining it. Public bathrooms and picnic areas if you pack a lunch.

Not very big but the bike trails are beautiful. A small park for kids and plenty of grills at the picnic area for that weekend bbq. Pretty good and the fort looks cool too! Dog Friendly/ w decent restrooms for a park. Overall, nice place if you live close.

Always enjoy coming here for geocaching, events, touring the grounds, or hiking and biking. Beautifully kept and appreciate that this piece of our local history is being preserved and taught about to others.

On this particular occasion we were here specifically for a Geocaching event in connection with one of the Marion County Geotrails, so very chilly and only got a quick shot of some fellow cachers, but the bathrooms were in good shape and heated, so it was much appreciated!

Flat trails. Great for jogging. Even after a heavy rain, rail trail was fine. app. 4.5miles thru tunnel to the road and back. Jogged down by the river as well. Homes off both sides of the trails at spots but still enjoyable jog. Pretty cool tunnel.

This historic park is small and the original fort was replaced with a new one, if I read it correctly. Kind of disappointed because the original is always better, maybe it wasn't possible to maintain the original. To enter the fort or the blacksmith shop, ticket purchase is required. This park is very well maintained and I was able to see quite a bit without getting a ticket. I decided not to see the fort because I have visited some that are similar and my girls were too tired that I would be dragging them around and it wouldn't be fun. The bike trail runs through this park and there is an area where you can picnic by the river. Restrooms are located by the water and next to the visitor center.

I am quite the fan of colonial history and this was a very fascinating glimpse into the past of early West Virginia. The fort has been restored to almost exact replication to when troops inhabited it. Inside are soldier's quarters, an armory, food storage, and other minute details done perfectly. A beautiful welcome center is located on the property with a gift shop, museum, and meeting hall. If you're into history, this is a no-brainer.
