If you come to Berkeley Springs: this community art center is a must-stop !!

We stumbled in here to duck out of the cold and stayed more than hour and spent some money supporting local artists, as well as learning about the town, the artists in residence and really ourselves (hint: I think that’s what inspired the five star review!)

As you’re waiting fir your bath or spa in BSWV, this place is not to be missed!

We went to the photographers opening for domestic violence and the local quilt show. Both were very well
done. There were more quilts on the second floor so don’t miss them. They were beautiful!

Sever on the outside (it's name tells it was a huge storage building) it is inviting and enchanting on the inside. Arts, crafts, theater and imagination!

What exactly goes on here at the Ice House?

All I can tell you is my family (wife, daughter, and three sons) have found it a terrific place to spend time on a number of levels since 2000. First, it is the number one place in Morgan County, and a unique location in the eastern Panhandle, to express creative energy for personal and collaborative benefit. On another level there is always the opportunity for education in so many different areas of the arts. And imbued through it all is Community. Participation, education, exploration. Observer, practioner, dabbler, master, beginner.

Painting, music, sculpture, photography, song, dance, yoga, digital media, artistry and crafting of all sorts...and my personal bent, acting and theater arts. Fascinating to have been involved with other professional actors as well as older adults wanting to step out on the boards for the very first time, to great success. It's amazing to get a cool high school guy to step gingerly into a production, only to have him cry when it's all over. From Community to Family. Getting young kids involved to blossom through their shyness, or to channel their wild extroversion, to be able to still their ever-twitching bodies. Watching people of all ages discover their abilities with prop making, executing light cues, sound design, set building.

Yeah, it's a pretty cool place.

UPDATE: "The Odd Couple" broke attendance records, and we're heading into another fine season!

Enjoyed walking through this gallery, the installations in the theater were really neat, and we enjoyed the exhibits from local artists. The man who greeted us was helpful and kind as well, telling us an easier way to get in with our stroller.

Lovely place and excellent collection of art & artifacts from local artists. Ms. Lisa was very helpful and a wealth of knowledge on local attractions & restaurant recommendations.
