Small little museum was definitely worth the pit stop. The history is interesting the amount of items in the small building is impressive without being too much. Our guide was great and very well informed. You can tell he is excited about his job. The mummies, which is what brought us here, are just mind blowing to see. Please do yourself a favor and check them out, along with the rest of the neat museum!

Small but really nice musuem. There is a lot of history in that small town and it is well worth a visit.

Here at 330 on a Sunday. Website and sign on door both say they're open. But the doors are locked. Disappointed since we came to see the mummies for my daughter's school project.

Additionally, the phone number listed on the door has been disconnected.

Got to the museum Sunday afternoon only to see it was not open for the winter season- I saw this online but decided to risk it anyway. There was a note to message the Facebook because they would open if a volunteer was available. Immediately got a message back saying they could open for me in about 30 minutes. The curator, who’s name I missed, messaged me when she was there and was very friendly and informative.
I felt a little uneasy about seeing the “mummies” knowing the story of how the bodies were obtained, but decided to visit anyway. Again the curator was very informative and emphasized how these people did not consent to what was done. I think she honored the women as best as possible for the circumstances.
The rest of the museum was also fantastic! Lots of local history and a great collection of memorabilia, tools, and historic photos. Not to mention Lurch!

We had been wanting to visit the Museum for a while but it had been closed, we got lucky a few weeks ago when we popped in and found Marissa who accommodated our group of 5 even though she clearly had her hands full. We really enjoyed the museum, I was surprised at the variety of items and local history on display, we found Marissa to be super helpful and informative, she gave a great tour around and spent ages answering all our questions. I would highly recommend visiting if you are in the area!

What a cool little museum! Everytime we're in the town of Phillipi we try to stop in. Such a small place is packed full of history from the surrounding areas. Wether it's civil war artifacts to old miners tools, local history of trials and tribulations, this place is rich with history. The Lurch mannequin is cool and you have to see and hear the story about the mummies!! Take note, there is a little gift shop and admission is free unless you want to see the mummies, in which case it's a dollar a person. The museum is ran by a volunteer bases, so try to get in touch with staff prior to visiting via facebook

It was great, the man and woman running it are very knowledgeable and gave a wonderful tour! Also, here lie the Phillipi Mummies!! Kids enjoyed it, I think my husband and I did even more! Please donate if possible, it keeps them and so many others public services running.
