Pretty scenery, fall leaves and many bare trees make for great photo ops. Nice easy walk through swampy areas on both sides of path. Didn't see any gators today but the birding was great!
Bug spray or be out before late afternoon!
Will return when temps have dropped more and spend more time..hopefully will see some wildlife then!

You need to know that Barr Hammock has a north section for which this is the given address on SE 11th Dr. and southern section at 300 SE 175th Ave., Micanopy, drive west from I-75 or US 41 at Micanopy, or drive south from Gainesville on Fla. Hwy, 121 the Williston Rd., to turn left [east] on
County 320 right on 221st Street Rd.
This a great hiking venue. The north section is a closed loop hike a full 6.6 mile walk with the north sector under fully open sky hiking. Go out a mile or two then turn around or do full loop. The southern sector has extraordinary trails for hike, bike and horseback and is extensive. Just a note that if you go deep enough or bad luck on trail dead ending or blocked, you may have some retracing steps. Nature has it's way and that is fine. To me it's part of the charm and attraction. A hiking app can be a boon. Google map on internet has good reception while you are out there.

Nice and quiet place for stretch your legs 🦵. Place is great for walking trails and this is the habitat of gator 🐊. If you get lucky you can in counter with the gators. But dogs 🐕 are not allowed. View is also great 👍. Spend some quality time with your love 💕 one and go some good for your health also 😊.

A great Florida nature trail. We saw 4 momma alligators and tons of babies. Lots of birds too.

Barr Hammock South trail is a heavily wooded trail for bikes, horses, and pedestrians. The trail is clearly marked. I gave it 3 stars because currently the trail is bumpy and dug up possibly by wild boar and habitat restoration contractors. Stay on Bay-Head Trail (the blue one) if you are hiking or biking and avoid the horse trails as much as possible. Seems like a great trail for horseback. The super cool bridge is located to the left at the north end of the yellow trail. No wildlife spotted, but it’s winter.

Should have gone earlier in the day or later when the sun wasn't so bright and it wasn't almost 100 degrees. Almost gave up and fed myself to the gators. Anyways the preserve was beautiful and theres so much to look at and appreciate. A nice 6 mile hike.

A moderate distance, the circuit around the swampy hammock presents one with a great opportunity to commune with the natural beauty of North Central Florida and to experience, in close proximity, the wildlife that resides there. We encountered several varieties of birds, including a pair of bald eagles, snakes, turtles, and yes, several alligators of various sizes from babies to about an 8 footer. A wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning!
