Easy walk, spotted pair of eagles, hawks, woodpeckers and waterfowl. Easy to get to and room for our small camper parking. Note this is a no dog trail.

Be prepared to spend time if you want to casually hike and take pictures. I saw no gators today but the water level in the back is lower than I have ever seen. It took me five hours. And as always I didn't bring enough to hydrate. Always pleased that the entire trail is incredibly clean. As you can see; the flowers were off the chart!!!

Surprised at the current low rating - this is one of my favorite hikes! A nice 6.5 mile loop with plenty of views. If you're into bird spotting, it's a no miss with various egrets, heron, red winged blackbirds, gorgeous swallow-tailed kites and more. In May, I spotted a couple dozen juvenile alligators plus plenty of turtles, who were camera shy. The trail itself is very well maintained with sand and short grass, so you won't have to deal with chiggers. In fact, the biting bugs are surprisingly low given proximity to the water. Ample parking - I consider it a no miss!

This is a nice long loop, great for training. I love the long distance that this trail offers, and the fact that it's relatively level is a plus. However, BE WARNED, this is not a shaded trail (maybe 5%)... if you head out too late in the day, the air is hot, stale and stuffy, which is quickly exhausting. Come well hydrated and I wouldn't recommend you start this loop any later than 10 AM.

I'm simply rating it one star to get people's attention and point out this trail does not allow dogs. We're okay with that. We didn't know until we got there.
