You'll never guess who I ran into today in the Citrus County Courthouse Museum. None other than Elvis! He was all over the place. Apparently in 1961 he was there to film "Follow That Dream". The old Courthouse is a terrific place to visit and soak in the history of life going back to and including the Native Americans who once called this area home. There is a life size model of a native speaking about his life there and loads of interesting artifacts spread out through several rooms. Upstairs is where Elvis appeared in the courtroom scene in the film. Elvis fans will really enjoy a visit to this place as well as history buffs. There's a lot to see and interesting events are also held there. Coming up on August 17, 2017, is a performance by an Elvis tribute artist, Peter Alden. Should be fun. Be sure to check out the museum next time you're in Inverness. It is handicap accessible with an outdoor elevator at the main entrance.

Decided to have our wedding inside the Old Courthouse. Would recommend having a reception here. Everything went smoothly, and looked great.

We love this place! We've done so many fun things here with my kids. They have lots of fun events. We've done murder mysteries, full history lessons, arts and crafts, and lots of fun things inside the museum.

Very nice old courthouse. The staff were friendly and explained the different areas to explore. The marble steps and walls were beautiful. The courtroom upstairs gorgeous with all the old wood. I especially liked the old artifacts. They have one room that changes month to month and they aprons displayed reminded me of my childhood.

A must-visit for Elvis fanatics! But honestly, there's rich history in this old courthouse showing how this region came alive, how they flourished ... and how they drove out the native tribes. University of Florida hosts one room with rotating exhibits.
