I came from Jacksonville to pay my respect to family buried here in honor of my father's birthday. It was a Saturday, around 9:30 in the morning. I was happy to see how beautifully maintained the grounds are. Everything is neatly laid out with gravel paths you can walk or drive on. I easily found my family right by the path I was on. However, my hope for a peaceful moment was literally shattered by loud music and men shouting over it a few yards over as they set up a new grave for a funeral. Even though they apparently saw me, they carried on, drowning out any possibility of the peaceful visit I had looked forward to. I didn't confront them, although I did wait a few minutes to see if they would give me the courtesy of lowering their voices and volume. After about ten minutes, I gave up and headed back to Jacksonville. Otherwise, it's a lovely space where my father, grand parents and three uncles are laid to rest. Since I'm not a local, I hope someone from Bonifay will see this and make sure going forward that cemetery workers will have a little more sensitivity toward visitors. I don't know when I'll have a chance to return, so that may be the only memory of my visit here.
