Apologies to the station builders for the one star. The station itself is fine. But I need to warn travellers about this area. We got off late one night to take a route home on public transport that was calculated by Google. The area felt very unsafe. There was barbed wire fences surrounding most properties. There were shady looking characters lurking around. There was what looked like a gang hanging around a car. As we passed by one building, a guard dog terrorised us by suddenly barking very loudly. Perhaps it was all in our minds, but we certainly won't be taking alighting at this station again.

One of the only stations in the Tri-Rail system that is fully accessible by foot, since it is nestled near a residential community. Three Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) bus routes service this station currently: 32, 42 and the 135/135A. It also has interesting architecture.

To those calling the surrounding area "sketchy", etc., as with in any large metro area, just be alert in your surroundings, and you should be fine, since both the train platform and the bus bays are well-lit at night. You should not have any problem any time of day.

There are no restroom facilities. There is one snack machine and, of course, a ticket kiosk. There is some security staff to ask questions about arriving trains, etc, but it's best to rely on the Tri-Rail or other transit app for information, since the security staff isn't always present on-site.

Surrounding area includes historic, Arabic-style buildings dating back to the 1930s and a community meeting space call The Arc, where many Opa-Locka events are held.
