Brevard Tax Collector Office and DMV

Renewed my car registration today, and I just had to find a way to give a review for awesome service!
I was in an out faster than I've ever been at the DMV, or any other tax collector's office. The place was clean, in order, and they had a very methodical process to knocking out different issues. I didn't catch her name, but the woman I sat with at the counter was extremely nice and it was a pleasure having her help. I've never had that experience at any government office, nor most private businesses for that matter.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually enjoyed registering my car here today!

My wife and I went to this facility twice in the last two days to change our licenses and register our vehicles after recently moving from out of state. We were immediately called by Rich who was very friendly and helpful. We then were transferred to a lady (sorry I forgot her name but she was in the #1 window) who was very pleasant and got the vehicle we had there registered (they have to physically verify VIN’s on out of State transfers). We came back in today for the second vehicle and utility trailer and even though Rich was helping another customer, he recognized us and waved hello. We were called in only a few minutes by Elaine who was extremely nice and got the transfers completed as expeditiously as a government system allows. We are both very impressed by the customer service they all provided and can’t remember any other experience with DMV’s in multiple States over the years being anywhere close to this. Job well done, keep it up!!!

First and foremost, go online and make an appointment. That is the only way to visit this office. Make sure that you arrive at least ten minutes early also. There is plenty of parking right out front. For those using the google maps, it will direct you to the back of the shopping center. Yes, there is parking there, but it is confusing on how to get into the front of the center entrance. So just park in front. They are in the corner to the right of Publix. (It is great for those who like to multi-shop.) I have been here two times and both were with with appointments. The second time I made the appointment on the same day with no issues. I arrived a few minutes early and was taken before my appointment time. They have a lot of staff who are very knowledgeable and ready to help you out. Make sure that you have all your documents that you need and do not leave anything at home. I really appreciate this location, even over the Merritt Island location for the time that I spent waiting and taking care of the required task. The staff are friendly and courteous. Highly recommend.

This is a very busy place but it is organized to deal with a large volume of people. Unless you are extremely lucky, you will have to wait but it usually isn't too long. There are chairs but the waiting area is pretty small. I sometimes grumble but the truth is that the wait times are reasonable and the service is done efficiently. All the people here are professionals.

On Feb 19th, my wife, daughter, sister in law, and myself were at the Indian Harbor Beach location and needed several things. Julie at window #5 assisted all of us with a change of driver license, new tags, and transfer of title. Julie was able to accomplish these tasks in a little over 40 minutes. We did have to wait until insurance was verified, so as we waited, she was able to help someone else. She was courteous, professional, and knew precisely the questions to ask to expedite our transactions that day. Thank you again Julie for your help.

By appointment only, standing outside if no vacant seats inside. Nikki juggled with ease my new registration, transfer tag, issuing my printed title and temporary tag. She was professional and efficient. Thanks Nikki for making my visit better than tolerable. Now someone needs to look into the payment processing company (3rd party) that's getting away with charging DMV customers 2.5% fee when using a credit card. With the volume of transactions and amounts, .any banks will do much much better on the rate. Is there nepotism in Brevard county?

Only by appointment at this time and impressive order of social distancing, and everyone required to wear mask. This part gets 5 stars. My low review is for the teller renewing my license with a gestapo attitude. Should not be working with people. I regretfully did not take her identification information. She is an older women sitting in cubic 1 (far end to the right). I was not happy about taking a vision test considering a pandemic risk but had to complete the renewal. I wanted this part to be as fast as I can but she was tapering with the vision pad. I had to tell her several time the display is faded, then the left column is not there, until I insisted she come to see what I see. Suddenly she corrected it and the display become clear. The worst part was her cold nature of one enjoying inflicting stress. A simple process of renewal of someone with clean history took 40 minutes.

I’ve never experienced someone so miserable for no reason...wow! This is the first unfavorable review I’ve ever written or maybe I’ve been lucky to never have been served like this in my life. They did a great job social distancing the customer outside... but the aggressive employee who served me was not wearing a mask, I thought it was required in IHB 7/21/20.
