Very nice monument of a very horrible time for latvian jews.

This is a very powerful memorial that I found extremely moving. The site has been left clear, following the burning of the synagogue with its congregation inside. The names of the victims are listed on simple memorial stones - shocking numbers of whole families lost. It is a simple but very effective reminder of part of Latvia's past which is otherwise not on show in Riga in the same way in it is in neighbouring Lithuania, in Vilnius's Jewish centre.

I love the fact to be in a place with so much history!

Extremely important historic site. The area is clean and looked-after, yet it still feels authentic. A sad but extremely interesting place that’s more than worth visiting.

Very interesting monument of a Synagogue destroyed by the Nazis in 1941. One of many, the signs are informative and the site is open and you can walk through it. It is sobering to read the names of the victims and stand in the basement on the original floor and foundation and think of what the Latvian Jews went through under the Nazis and then under the Soviet Union.
