I studied programming in RVT in 2004-2008. My parents took a huge risk and pulled me out of the school, which ended up the best decision in my life. In a post-soviet school, I was a bad student, because I could not tolerate the authoritarian attitude of teachers towards other kids and me. Here, in RVT, I was treated as an equal, which helped me to find self-confidence and graduate with distinction. I am now a parent myself, successful programmer, trainer, and international conference speaker.

Because the class was a mix of Russian-speaking and Latvian-speaking students, I mastered Latvian sufficient to work in any local IT company. Moreover, after graduation, I've exchanged my "alien's password" to a citizen's passport, bypassing the naturalization process.

My classroom teacher was a fantastic woman Ina Jāvalde, who knew how to teach us – difficult grown-ups – valuable life lessons, such as respect and integrity. As far as I know, she is still teaching math in RVT.

Give your kids a professional education and skills that will help them throughout their life – they will appreciate it.

Caution: not everybody has succeeded after graduation. Only those who studied hard and read additional programming books and took online courses did. The reason is that the program covers only the basics of programming, which is not sufficient for getting a real job in IT. The final result will depend on each student's individual persistence, but the school provides all students with equal opportunity and the environment to succeed.
