Why the Police in Riga don't stop scams happening daily in bars in the Kalku Iela (number 20 to 26)? Those bar are open since many years and no action are taken against them.

Everyone in the station was empathetic and caring. Our van was broken into and robbed near the Old Town, and in most places around Europe you would be treated with indifference - given a report number and sent away. Here, they truly cared. They did forensics on our van, took a lengthy detailed statement, recognised me as a victim. I hadn't eaten all day so the lovely police woman on my case gave me HER croissant and apple juice. They made sure I had someone who could translate for me. It was so refreshing to be treated as more than just a number or a silly tourist. Couldn't recommend dealing with them more.

My fiancé and I had our campervan broken into and lots of our stuff stolen in Riga and went here to get the documents for insurance. They were absolutely amazing and so helpful and professional. I wish we had known they would actually care because in most of western Europe police don't care about burglary. They were upset we moved the van because they did a full forensic screening and wanted to actually solve the crime, which is unheard of in Western Europe!? They even gave my fiancé lunch while she was going through the interviews and then quickly sent us the documents we needed for insurance. I cannot rate the police here highly enough, thank you so much and love from New Zealand ❤️
