The Latvian Holocaust Museum is a short 5 minute walk from Riga Central Market. The area is not as beautifully restored as Old Town Riga, so it’s an interesting alternative view of the city.
The museum attempts to showcase life for Latvian Jews before and during the Holocaust.

The cobblestone entry into the Latvian Holocaust Museum is made from the same cobblestone of Ludzas Iela; the main street of the Riga Ghetto. It’s definitely a sobering way to begin your visit.

A train car and a large wall to the right will be the first thing you see. On one side of the wall, pay homage to the 70,000 people who died in Latvia during the Holocaust, each person is listed by name. On the other side, the story of the Holocaust in Latvia is displayed.

Very informative museum. Plenty to read. Free entrance. Optional to donate. There is a detailed exhibition on Jews trying to flee Germany before and during WW2. Highly recommended.

Surprisingly a pretty good museum with a lot of interesting historical facts. Some parts were not interesting, but overall it’s definitely worth a visit if you are into history. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Modest Holocaust museum when compared to some others, but there are some highlights. Scale models of all the synagogues are very detailed. The ghetto house, train car (with good photographs), and memorial wall are absolutely worth seeing.

Well worth a visit. Very interesting and conversational. You might be shocked to hear another person's perspective on the Holocaust and give yourself some good conversation on history. 👏👏👏

Horrifying history told in impactful, gentle ways. The space is mostly outdoors and the indoor sections are large and we'll ventilated. The safest museum in Riga.

Definitely an experience, something you don't get at other ghettos like the train cart, a real ghetto house. 5 euro donation isn't bad

Again, this is another place that using the word "enjoy" just doesn't fit. You're literally surrounded by a history of suffering and pain but it's definitely worth checking out. It's full of history and unfortunately sadness. It is "free" to explore but they do ask for donations, there are boxes around and we happily contributed to. Not sure what it goes towards but we imagine the restoration and upkeep of this historical piece of history.

There are no guards, or staff to ask questions and from what I saw, no toilets. If you're visiting Riga... Go explore the Ghetto.
