Good to buy, BAD to sell. This is the THIRD time I have gone in since the new ownership to sell my items to be told "they are overstocked and not accepting items". This third time, they even texted me TWICE telling me I HAD to come into the store to discuss my processed items. Drove across town on my lunch break to find out they are DONATING ALL ITEMS. Complete waste of time and energy. Better off to take your items and donate them in a local blue bin or to Value Village. Even brand name, brand new or hardly worn items, will not be accepted anymore - clearly.

Are used to love bringing clothes into Plato’s closet always seem to get a decent price for my items. Last two times it has been brutal! Actually this time, they said they were donating all the items. They were to Lululemon jackets in there never even worn. I don’t believe it!

EDIT 2022: I've been trying to decide if I should update my review, or just delete it. I used to absolutely love this store, but in the last 6 months, the quality has gone downhill. It has become difficult to find items at Plato's that aren't either torn or dirty. I'm not sure what is going on, but I think potential shoppers should be made aware of the lack of quality in recent months. On our last trip alone, I ended up putting back 8 items that had stains or excessive pet hair on them (not just a little bit, they were coated in pet hair). And of the clothes I purchased, I had to throw out two of the items because we noticed major flaws and staining once we got home (and we don't go into the city often enough to return it within their 7 day return period). Yes, I should have looked more carefully at the items before purchasing, but I also think that these items shouldn't have been up for sale in the first place. Plato's used to be the best place in Red Deer for used clothing, but unfortunately that is not the case lately. On the bright side, the staff is still amazing as always.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: My family and I just love shopping at this store. It's a weekly shopping trip for us! We always get great service, the staff is friendly and helpful. It's always nice when they recognize you from previous visits and have a little chat! Prices seem to fluctuate a bit, but we can always find a good deal.

Used to Love bringing my clothes into platos closet always found I got a good price until today. Brought in 6 garbage bags of clothes and got a couple dollars back. Seeing as there were items lululemon still with price tag .. can say I probably won’t be doing that again.. good place to shop but not to bring in clothes that have value. Better off selling on buy and sell

They were brought in a bag full of designer clothes in great condition, I was offered 13$
I'm looking on eBay and just the jeans alone I was gonna sell have already priced at 80$ pre owned.
That was not even 1/3 of the huge bag
What a scam

I find the store a bit crowded which makes it hard to look through the racks, and even move about when it’s busy., however they do have great current styles to purchase , very reasonable prices,(assuming because they are cheap when purchasing clothing from the seller)
Some of the employees would benefit from some customer service skills training. (More then 1 occasion I’m referring too)

rude staff, offered $16 for lululemon leggings that were worn once (in perfect condition) & a few american eagle shirts. what a joke. don’t bother selling anything here, you’ll be way better off selling on marketplace or kijiji.

Today I went in to Platos to shop but also to see how much I could get for a shirt I bought from Lammles Western Wear a few years ago. It was a long sleeved mans button up shirt that said "cowboy up" on it. Never worn and hung in my closet the whole time. No tears, rips, stain etc... brand new. As I waited for the girls to to figure out how much they were going to give me for it, I went to do some shopping for work clothes. When I went to pay for my items, I found out they were only going to give me $3 for the shirt. I was shocked. I realize that it's not a name brand shirt however, it was brand new, never worn and you could tell because it still had the folds and creases from hanging on a hanger for years. Needless to say, I took my shirt and left. While I was shopping I found a pair of Guess jeans that had rips and tears in it and looked like it had been worn for many years. And the price.... $30!!!!!! Are you kidding me!!!! I will not go back and not try to sell any clothes there again.
