- Price: Sherwood Dental charged almost $9000 for a moderate case. Something I wished I knew before signing up: There were comprehensive (5 years ) and moderate (2 years ) treatment plans. I thought mine would have been a comprehensive plan given the dear price tag, and all my friends got their 5-year plans with other providers for even less than 9K, but little did I know that they only signed me up for a 2-year plan, meaning I would have to pay for another treatment all over again if issues not fixed within two years.
- Their experience: Again, something I wish I knew before: They are only a Platinum provider. They don’t have as much experience as those who are Diamonds who have completed way more cases.
- Bite issues post treatment: I experienced bite issues about two weeks post treatment, I kept biting my lower left lip when eating, my lower lip was bleeding almost everyday at every meal. Later, I found out that my bite was much heavier on the left and I couldn’t feel my back teeth when biting. I contacted them but it took them a few weeks to get back and said it was nothing wrong with the treatment, advised me to re-shape a tooth to fix the issues, which I did, but I still bit myself when eating constantly afterwards. I then contacted them again as I believed that my issues could be fixed with a few more aligners, they then said they couldn’t order more trays because I had already completed, and there was no room in my teeth for any more movements. I then consulted with a few other Invisalign providers and the conclusion was that more trays could be ordered to fix the issues, so Sherwood Dental either did not want to address the issues or did not the have experience to.
- Refund: I requested partial refund to be transferred to a new provider to undergo more treatment. Sherwood Dental only refunded a portion of what I asked for and made the process very difficult. They ignored the fact that I had already started paying the new provider for the re-treatment and demanded me to pay off all the original repayments to them via Humm (the financial firm). Thankfully Humm got involved and told them their action was unreasonable, so they had to cancel purchase and reduce my repayments in the end.
- Thank God I have relocated to a different city, I’m now on the 3rd tray of re-treatment with a new doctor, who is a diamond provider. I am already experiencing so much improvement in only 3 trays. Things Sherwood Dental said they couldn’t fix before, are now all being fixed. What’s more, my new doctor got me involved in designing my new treatment plan, I was able to play the Invisalign software Clincheck and design the outcome I desired (Sherwood Dental did not provide such service), and the new treatment outcome was so much straighter than the one Sherwood Dental provided. Although I had to pay extra money for the transfer, never regretted one bit.
- I am sure Sherwood Dental would respond to this review and say that the treatment was completed to my satisfaction because I said I was happy on the day when the last set of aligners were removed. Well, a satisfactory outcome should not be only based on the aesthetic result, but more importantly, the functionality as you don’t want to have straight teeth yet can’t bite properly, and patients can only tell the functional issues after treatment, not on the spot when the aligners are taken off.
- Final advice: Please always do your research before choosing a provider, always choose a diamond provider who has much more experience. There are Invisalign groups on Facebook offering much peer support which I wish I knew before.
