I went there on the Ballarat Heritage Weekend, where a senior member of the congregation gave a talk about the history of the synagogue and the roles played by various members in the Ballarat community. This is the first time that I'd been in a synagogue and the members were quite welcoming .

Beautiful old Shule, it is only a pity that they've not even got a Minyan or proper weekly prayer sessions for Shabbos....

Perhaps my favourite landmark of Ballarat! The building is in exceptional state. Sadly, the congregation is no longer hundreds strong.

We have been members of this synagogue 4 approximately 25 years. It currently holds a monthly sabbath service plus observes additional commemorative occasions like Jewish New Year & Shavuos. Generally, just under 20 men & a dozen women are present. The service is run by lay people with men sitting 2 one side & women on the other side. Congregants bring a vegetarian or dairy dish 2 share with the others at the kiddush after the service. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Accessibility & parking are easy.
