We had a wonderful two-night stay at the Provincial Hotel in a spacious and comfortable room with a lovely balcony.
As other reviewers have noted, this room is directly opposite the train station, and the noise from the level crossing was a little annoying the first night. Obviously, this is out of the control of the hotel, however, and it didn't detract from our overall experience too dramatically.
The staff here are so friendly and helpful, and the coffee from the restaurant downstairs is excellent!
This was our second stay at the Provincial, and we would definitely stay here again.

Had a superb Valentines dinner at the Provincial last night. The staff were so nice and accommodating. We stayed the night in one of their Lola rooms. It was so big and beautifully decorated. The mini bar was generously stocked and the bed was AMAZING. Will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended. If you are looking for boutique accommodation in Ballarat, this place should be on your short list. Not one thing to complain about. LOVED IT.

One of the prettiest hotels we have stayed in. All the blue and white is divine. Friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Beautiful touches like the way our room smelled when we arrived and the music is fabulous. Felt like we were back in Paris!

We had a really great stay. The front rooms are beautiful and spacious. Only down side is loud trains on that side of the hotel however during our stay the trains were not operating so we were very fortunate to have the peace . Overall great venue and well worth the stay

The check in with Hester was so easy. Our room was beautifully appointed and decorated and the bed was vey comfortable.
We had dinner in Lola restaurant which was a great experience with delicious food.
I would recommend the hotel and Lola as a clever, clean and welcoming destination. Great value for money and we will be back to stay.

This is the worst hotel I have ever been in contact with. I accidentally left out my baby when I booked a room for 2 and emailed the hotel letting them know we had a baby too. The hotel answered saying the baby couldn't stay with us and that I needed to upgrade to a room twice as expensive. I declined and said I rather have a refund, but they refuse to refund me the money. So I ended up paying for a room I couldn't stay in. Horrible customer service and I strongly advise anyone to pick another hotel in town.

A delightful boutique hotel. Friendly and helpful but unobtrusive staff and inviting slightly rustic decor. Very clean if showing it’s age in places. We stayed in the balcony suite which is spacious and nicely decorated but the convinces of the location directly opposite from the main railway station was not conducive to a good sleep. Freight trains and a loud level crossing are the only things that made this less than 5 star stay. We’ll be back but asking for a room on the other side of the hotel next time.
