I rang with an enquiry about a burial in 1855. Megan went to a lot of effort, to answer my query, and in the friendliest manner. Thanks also to her colleagues who assisted her..

During the Ballarat heritage Festival, we were able to enjoy a tour of the crematorium and its behind the scenes operation and then later in the day joined a guided bus tour of the cemetery grounds.

I was very impressed that Annie, the Cemetery trust CEO addressed us explaining the operations, we were then handed over to Peter who gave us a detailed explanation of the inner workings and processes of the crematorium. Very knowledgeable and welcoming staff.

The bus tour was operated by Penny and Kevin, he joked that he had been working there so long everyone thought he had been present at the first burial in Ballarat. But his and Penny's knowledge of the people that were buried in the cemetery with a short explanation of their lives was very interesting.

It was a quality tour and certainly well worth the visit. For those that enjoyed it, you will know what I mean. For those that missed out, put it on your events to do list next year. To the members of the cemetery trust you did an amazing job, well done to you all.
